How did you shoot today at Golf

I always shake my head when I see a ball that has say the model of the ball on the side instead of it being white and some knucklehead has a line drawn through the name… couldn’t use the name as the line?
Typhoon Par4QC I never, ever, use any mark or any alignment that may be on the ball....name/number/etc.. I turn the ball white-side up.
I consider myself a very good putter.+1 to that. I end up focusing on the lines on the ball and not on the speed /line of the putt. And I never 3 putt.
Both of you have reminded me of how I used to putt back when I was a decent putter. I never used any sort of alignment aid, but chose a path for the putt and then consciously set my putter face perpendicular to that path. Somewhere along the way I stopped with the consciously part and also lost my confidence in putting. Don't know if there is any correlation in those or not, but certainly can't hurt to try again what worked well for me in the early years.
Well shizz!
Now I will have to try out not using the provided line on my Vice Pro’s…uhhhhg…It better make me putt better otherwise I will file suit!!
VigilanteTrail You could just not pay attention to the line on the ball. I don’t. I set the ball down only so I don’t have the name and number looking up at me. The line or model could be askew but I’m not paying attention to that.
When you’re hitting your tee shot, do you aim the line on the ball down the middle of the fairway? NO. In the fairway the line could be pointed anywhere and you’re fine…
Played 9 indoors on Caledonia and shot -4. Sucked off the tee too. I hit sooo many balls inside with a 7 iron that when I grab a driver my stance width stays the same and I’m awful. Finally remembered afterwards to widen my driver stance
Typhoon do you aim the line on the ball down the middle of the fairway? NO.
Absolutely NOT…I NEVER ever…c’mon man what kind of dorks have ever tried THAT tactic before?!?
VigilanteTrail The Maxfli Tour balls are marked where you SHOULD align off the tee & on the green.
Funny how those things pay no damn attention.
Today was very windy. I shot 83 with 5 greens and 31 putts. I fatted several fairway woods, and irons weren’t great. My club selections versus the wind direction were mostly wrong. But I got the short game back on track using the method in that article I linked the other day, combined with a super fat sole, high bounce wedge. On the soft dormant lies, that wedge makes a huge difference.
Our team kicked ass and won big. The wind ate up a lot of the players.
Our scores were upside down.
A player 85
B (me) 83
C 81
D 78 (from the red tees)
Those are gross, not net. The C player turns 81 in May. The D player is 90!

I played today with some of the guys for funsies only. It was a beautiful day and I wore shorts.
And that is the end of the good news.
I shot 97. 1 GIR, on the first green. 34 putts. I had TEN doubles.
None of the trouble came from tee shots on the par 4s and 5s. Well okay, one time it was the tee shot. Otherwise it was all approach shots and short game where I fell apart. Missing greens in awful places. Etc etc. Conditions are difficult, but still.
Because it wasn't a money game, I played some clubs I hadn't been playing. They were not an improvement at all. Including a borrowed LAB Mezz putter that my buddy wants me to buy from him. I never made anything with it.
I had to cancel out of tomorrow's team event. I'd have zero confidence going into that. Which sucks because it is going to be another great day. Oh well.
I shot 40-42-82 today at Bedford Hills GC in Temperance, Michigan. It was warm (63*) but windy today, but when you get a 60 degree February day in Ohio, you better take advantage of it. I ran out of gas a little bit on the back nine, and my back started tightening up, but I managed to finish with two good pars.....had a double bogey and a birdie thrown in there also on the back nine.

78 at Tarpon Springs. Had one birdie. The only skid mark came on #18. 18 plays uphill to the green. Roasted my drive down the middle. Had - 140 to the back where the pin was.
Flushed an 8 iron that was a little left of the flag. Get up there and one of the guys in the group behind the hedges on #1 tee box came thru the hedge and said my ball was on the tee box.
So I waited till they teed off and pitched my ball back over the hedge onto the green. But then proceeded to 3 putt for a double. A little nippy this morning. 45 degrees when we went out at 7:00. The sun came out which made it more comfortable.
42/43 today. A good round for me. The front was more consistent, 3 pars, 6 bogies. The back nine was inconsistent, 5 pars, one bogey and three doubles.
The forecast had been for rain this morning, but it never rained and by the time I left for the course the rain was out of the forecast. When I got there, there were about 4 cars in the parking lot. The guy in the pro shop said we had the only tee time booked for the whole day! Temp was around 60, mostly cloudy and some breeze. With nobody out ion the course in front of us, we got around in 3:05 and it was CPO. Even when we finished there was only 15-20 cars in the lot with several guys just playing cards. If only all my rounds could be like that.
Sneakylong We’re going to need to see a steroid test.
