Typhoon Par4QC I never, ever, use any mark or any alignment that may be on the ball....name/number/etc.. I turn the ball white-side up.
I consider myself a very good putter.+1 to that. I end up focusing on the lines on the ball and not on the speed /line of the putt. And I never 3 putt.
Both of you have reminded me of how I used to putt back when I was a decent putter. I never used any sort of alignment aid, but chose a path for the putt and then consciously set my putter face perpendicular to that path. Somewhere along the way I stopped with the consciously part and also lost my confidence in putting. Don't know if there is any correlation in those or not, but certainly can't hurt to try again what worked well for me in the early years.
