wishbone ode I agree, I thought the course was set up perfectly. Loved in particular the traps, and how the rough was hittable but brought the flyer into play, and going long was always trouble.
ode wishbone +1, would love to play that course from ~ 6400 yards; also looked to be a fair amount of elevation change!
sdandrea1 ode 1, would love to play that course from ~ 5400 yards; also looked to be a fair amount of elevation change! Fixed it...... ๐
Subsonic Would those of you that observed Mito's collapse say it was as bad or worse than Van de Velde at Carnoustie?
KCee Subsonic Would those of you that observed Mito's collapse say it was as bad or worse than Van de Velde at Carnoustie? I don't think it looked as bad, but it was Mito's tournament to win or lose on the 18th. His swing did not look the same on the last 5-6 holes and his swing on #18 tee looked like a 15-25 capper. I give Mito credit for sticking around for interviews. Hopefully he gets a chance to redeem himself in the near future.
Eguller Subsonic Mito's collapse say it was as bad or worse than Van de Velde at Carnoustie? Not even in the same league as Van Man. Van de Velde has several chances on one hole to redeem himself but failed miserably. JMO
sdandrea1 Subsonic Van de Choke's was worse because I think he had a shot at making an easy bogey after his errant drive and he got aggressive. IIRC, bogey would still win.
fatshot KCee His swing did not look the same on the last 5-6 holes and his swing on #18 tee looked like a 15-25 capper. Amen to that....! On his follow through on 18 tee, his hands NEVER got above his left shoulder....!!! Looked like a bad baseball swing....
potbunker ode USGA could learn something from the bunkers at SH as to them being more of a hazard. +1 except for the membership override. Honestly, I would like to see that as a requirement for every tourney. A trap should not be an automatic bailout option.
Eguller potbunker A trap should not be an automatic bailout option. Agree. Wisdom from 'potbunker'.... ๐
KCee My home course is nothing like Southern Hills except: you want to avoid the rough you NEVER want to go over a green only 2 par 5's the par 3's are really hard the course is hilly the bunkers are not easy to deal with hitting the fairway doesn't automatically mean you get a level lie or even a good look at the green the wind swirls Actually my course is very much like Southern Hills except our club house would probably fit inside one of their maintenance sheds
MartinD sdandrea1 Van de Choke's was worse because I think he had a shot at making an easy bogey after his errant drive and he got aggressive. IIRC, bogey would still win. Double bogey would have won for Van de Velde - he was three shots ahead playing the 18th.
Sneakylong Pereiraโs 18th hole reminded me of Philโs 18th hole and ultimate loss in the U.S. Open at Wingfoot in 2006.
sdandrea1 MartinD Double bogey would have won for Van de Velde - he was three shots ahead playing the 18th. I remember the announcers saying he could have gone 8i, 8i, Wedge, putter and won the ๐.
MartinD sdandrea1 I remember the announcers saying he could have gone 8i, 8i, Wedge, putter and won the ๐. Apparently, there was an announcer that said that Van de Velde could have played the hole with only his putter in less than 7 shots - seemed like a good idea for a video for someone...
