No question, but ‘some’ of his wins did come from for lack of a better term obscure tournaments back then. Where the competitors were far from the top level of that time.
Key word there is some. And it takes nothing away from his accomplishments. Just like Byron Nelson’s 1945 record of winning 18 out of the 30 tournaments he played in. Including 11 in a row.
But it being in the WWII era the competition certainly wasn’t the same.
