ode it will mostly be a mute point moving forward

Probably so, but let time take care of that , don't try to just ban them. Even if they had to qualify like you or I. I'm pretty sure DJ and Reed, etc would handle that quite easily.

Sneakylong Brandel Chamblee made a good point yesterday. In other sports the player is paid before he plays. In his example Tom Brady gets paid millions of dollars and if he doesn’t perform for the team he gets benched.

Actually it's not that great a point. Brady might get benched but he still gets paid his monstrous contract. Lots of guys in pro sports underperform but keep starting because of their massive contracts. The Liv guys won't get benched but if they underperform, who's to say they will get resigned? We don't know how long DJ and these other guys signed for. Was it lifetime? 5 years? 10?

      bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Yet another apples to oranges comparison AND you quoted Chambleep.
      LOL

Martee The issue maybe the number of players teeing it up, less than 75.

Do they give out Points for Tiger's mini-field , no cut event?
        Yes they do.

I could see Reed going through with qualifying if it ever came to it, but not DJ. Agreed re the "Opens", if they've qualified they should get in.
I think the R&A a d USGA will have a harder time doing it (ban). Not sure about the PGA . The Masters...it will be interesting to see what they do!

garyt1957 I don't know if you've watched any of the events the LIV players have been in (non LIV events)...but my small sample size wise that there seems to be very little showing of LIV players, but maybe I'm reading into it 🤔. With there being so much coverage of The Open, it should be clear if that's the case!

            Spuzz
The next "good point" Brandel makes will be his first. He's golf's equivalent of tennis' Chis Evert ... he acts like he thinks we all should like hearing his voice as much as he does.

Well, other than Dj and Reed how many really top notch players did the LIV get? None of them were at the top of their game before jumping. Plus I'm sure all the controversy is distracting. I could be wrong but most of these guys are pretty competitive I doubt they'll just quit trying. But there's plenty of guys in other sports who signed big multi year deals and just cruised through those years

              garyt1957 I doubt they'll just quit trying

Like every other main sport, the stars don't always get paid for how they are performing at present.
Most of them get paid for what they have done in the past and are "worth" now. Some get paid on potential right off, but those cases are not frequent.
LIV is the answer to that equation, for them. If they are pros, they will continue to put in their best efforts to perform.
It's up to the GM's to figure out which ones will start coasting, or are coasting, and cut them. Since we don't know what exactly the LIV contracts entail, it's all speculation and most of it drummed up by PGA shills to demonize the LIV players.
Tiger's presser was no different than all the rest. Just baseless and clueless speculation for the sole purpose of trying to put down the competition and keep the monopoly going.

The Tour guarantees nothing, other than if you qualify and PAY the entry fees, you get a spot and two rounds to try and qualify for two more rounds and a paycheque. They actually do not guarantee the competition in those events.
(Special events excluded of course, where the peons are told to stay home)
Derogatory statements aimed at guys who have sacrificed and built the Tours up over 20 years, who now want to get (over) paid for their services reek of jealousy, bitterness, underappreciation and thanklessness (among others) of those that came before them.

Quick look shows lots of LIV names starting out first thing, so will be done before anybody is out of bed tomorrow.
              lol
Only DJ is in prime time.

Spuzz he was the only LIV player I remember seeing at that charity event in Scotland......I think they showed him putting, once.

                Spuzz

Yup, but thats Tiger's just like the WGC no cut limited fields.

Im sure the coversation this week will be interesting, not that we will hear much of it.

Check R & A's Slumbers presser if you'd like to hear this issue from the source. Bright guy.

darpar So what happens with LIV when the Saudi's finally come to their
senses and figure their RoR doesn't exist?
I give this charade 2 years max!

Wouldn't be surprised. I don't think it stand on it's own merits and actually be profitable. Well, especially with what they're paying guys now, obviously.

Agree. And if you define 'profitable' other than money, definitely not.

Eguller Should have started with luring players away from the WNBA, instead of PGA?
IOW, started something different, not golf. Not men's golf, anyway.

Don't know what happened, Brandell fell asleep, wires got tangled, or what, but saw an interview earlier with Bryson. On TGC, 'Live at the Open' telecast. 😲
I think it was from today, not last year. 😉

Spuzz But Friday, they will be the featured groups, being out late afternoon. Unless they cut the broadcasts.
