Not so sure the 54 hole is an issue other than the number of points to be awarded (several develomental tours are 54 holes and the get points, pga tournaments that are reduced to 54 holes still get the full point allotment).
The issue maybe the number of players teeing it up, less than 75.
Interesting the LIV has gone in partnership with the Asian Tour (read that to be a boat load of money donated) and they are sponsoring the LIV.
Not sure Chamblee is a good source, after all he was saying the LIV tournament winnings was deducted from the signing bonuses/contracts. But as I understand the contracts are across a number of years, Phil 200m across 4 years. Possible there is a clause that allows them to play less and get less or the structure can be based on performance, appearance, etc. Haven't heard anyone address the contracts that have actually saw them
