How did you shoot today at Golf
77 at Spanish Bay from Gold tees 6400+
( sim golf mind you)
Played 7 holes yesterday at my new (old) course in 7 over par. I forgot what pristine turf conditions were like. Now if I could find a golf swing. My index has gone from 11.4 to 15.8 in 6 months and is now on a Soft Cap.
johnnydoom Lots of great advice here:
Read that thread. Not going back in.
sdandrea1 Yeah you need to keep expectations really low after a long layoff. I haven't swung a club since early November and have a golf trip coming up in 3 weeks and I'm expecting to suck. On the plus side no one else going on the trip has probably played either.
I'm looking at the positives of playing badly. I will probably get at least 5-6 rounds in on this trip, I think I can post them and I have 3 low rounds immediately dropping off my index. I may start the season at my club a few strokes higher myself
Got another 9 holes in today. Played the Blue (senior) tees (5200 yards). Looks like this will be the appropriate box for my wimpy tee distance. Finished in 5 over par with 3 par putts just missing, but they would have been 1-putt pars, and we're not short putts. I was hitting the ball much better, but still struggling to reach greens in regulation. I managed to par 4 holes, and bogied 5. Walked behind a push cart.
Got out to play one of the free executive courses at The Villages. It was actually a nice set up, attractive holes. First swing of the day was a beauty from 140 to 3 feet. Made the birdie. Birdied the second hole too but that shot wasn't too pretty. Hit it on the ground the whole way to about another 3 feet, lol. A birdie's a birdie. A couple pars then mostly bogies to finish two over for 9. Glad to get the rust off for today's round at a full course.
- Edited
I played today for the first time since November 13 and it showed. The front was a real struggle but I started playing better on the back. I even managed to chip one in on a par 5 for a birdie!
It was a beautiful day for St. Louis for February, About 50* when we teed off and about 70* when we finished. Nice and sunny too. A little slow as it was CPO.
EDIT - My back feels like I haven't played in 2-1/2 months too!
Got the back nine in today on my new (old) course. It's closed on Mondays, but members can walk after 12 noon. I hiked the back in 5 over. Still hitting it straight, but my best drive today was on #18. It went 170. Solid, straight. The course is soft right now. I might get a few more yards in warmer weather. Par 4s over 325 are getting longer. I'm hitting my 7 hybrid from 120. Ugh.......
