Got out to play one of the free executive courses at The Villages. It was actually a nice set up, attractive holes. First swing of the day was a beauty from 140 to 3 feet. Made the birdie. Birdied the second hole too but that shot wasn't too pretty. Hit it on the ground the whole way to about another 3 feet, lol. A birdie's a birdie. A couple pars then mostly bogies to finish two over for 9. Glad to get the rust off for today's round at a full course.

There's some pretty good eateries over at the Brownwood Station Town Center. There's a really GOOD Golf Store there called Golf Central. Check 'em out!

I played today for the first time since November 13 and it showed. The front was a real struggle but I started playing better on the back. I even managed to chip one in on a par 5 for a birdie!

It was a beautiful day for St. Louis for February, About 50* when we teed off and about 70* when we finished. Nice and sunny too. A little slow as it was CPO.

EDIT - My back feels like I haven't played in 2-1/2 months too!

Got the back nine in today on my new (old) course. It's closed on Mondays, but members can walk after 12 noon. I hiked the back in 5 over. Still hitting it straight, but my best drive today was on #18. It went 170. Solid, straight. The course is soft right now. I might get a few more yards in warmer weather. Par 4s over 325 are getting longer. I'm hitting my 7 hybrid from 120. Ugh.......

        sdandrea1 I'm hitting my 7 hybrid from 120. Ugh.......

If it makes you feel better, I hit my 4H/21* 120-130.
And it's exactly what I want it to go.😉

But my driver must be well over 300 at times. Naturally so.👍

Played Red tail GC in Sorrento FL today. Nice layout, greens and tee boxes were excellent but the rest was sketchy. Had been recently underwater (7th hole had just reopened today) so hard to judge conditions. But only $28 apiece for 18 and a cart.
Shot 43-42-85, a tale of two nines even though only one stroke difference. Had 4 more putts on the back. Didn't hit a really good shot on the front but found something on hole 11 and went 3 pars and a birdie, then a 7 when I had a 60 yard 2nd shot and dunked it, then finished well. Hopefully the good back 9 carries over to the next round.

The weather was nice enough for me to play today, and I had the day off work... unfortunately, I had a minor surgery five days ago and I am not allowed to play golf for two weeks. 😡
We don't always have beautiful days in February. I was pretty sad about having to bypass this one.

          "Physician, heal thyself"..........faster 🤣

rsvman2 Nice +50 here today also, but nothing open. We did play last Feb.3 & 25. Was even better than now though. I'm not trusting this year for the same.

I can't see to play anyway. Cataracts app't next week.

Just back from playing 7 rounds over 6 days in Sarasota/Bradenton and never got under 80 once. Ranged from 83-88. The 88 on a very challenging Lakewood National Commander course. Played tees 6300-6500 all week

Had a great week off the tee and ok into the greens but for the life of me could not chip and putt on the Bermuda there. I have played Bermuda many times in Carolinas and Zona but this was different. Made 3 birdies twice and 1 birdie thrice but that was either a lucky bomb ( putted in twice from off the green) or when i knocked it within 3 feet.

In any event some good handicap maintenance 😉. Started 2024 at 4.9 and now 9.6 🙁

Spartan My wife was in St Louis last week. Nice weather overall.

40/43 today for my 1st full round at the new/old club. Our foursome got around in 3 hours, 5 minutes. Nice lunch after. 2 double bogeys, 9 pars, 7 bogeys. I actually hit a handful of solid shots with my ACER XDS 5w on the Acer 45g shaft! Nice turf makes things easier. Sunny, 67 degrees.😎

47/48 yesterday on the same course I shot 48/39 on about 3-4 weeks ago. There was no finding it on the back 9 this time. 🙂 I drove the ball pretty well but topped a bunch of iron and hybrid shots. Three-putts after hitting the first putt too hard on fast greens was a problem, too. Topping the ball is not a typical miss, so I never figured it out. Many of the topped shots rolled a long way on the sparse winter fairways, so the score could have been worse.

Didn't play but finally hit some balls in the garage last night. A bit too cold for me even in there, but I had time. I sucked so bad. Warmed up with a wedge and then struggled to hit the center of the face with a 9i. Thought I finally found a groove, but then was wearing out the toe of my 7i and hybrid. Finally stopped swinging and just started doing drills. Hit the last dozen or so shots with 7i and hybrid pretty flush. Was hoping to hit an indoor range or sim this weekend, but we are going to Boston to visit my kid. Golf trip in a couple of weeks should be interesting.

48-47 in the senior league today. I put on a clinic on how to waste good drives. Usually I have a decent round when I'm still playing with the ball I started with, but not today. I had one little streak of 3 pars in a row (3 gir) but other than that things were pretty ugly around the greens. On one hole it took me 4 to get out of a greenside bunker. I was hitting to a down sloping green with water on the other side. I couldn't bring myself to swing hard enough. 🙃

Played Eagle Dunes in Eustis Fl today. Shot 48-43-91 with 40 (Forty!) putts. Drive r was great hit the first 11 Fws and 12 of 14 total. Could not hit a single GIR on the front nine. Greens were fast and I could not adjust.
Much better back nine, hit 6 GIR just couldn't putt. Oh well.

KCee Can you find an outdoor range with good heaters? We have a few around here. Only thing is with snow on the ground you can only hit balls on a day with blue sky.

              • KCee replied to this.

Typhoon There is a nice one about 30 minutes from my house. I don't go much because a few times I went the heaters were shut off or just not working in the bays that were empty. So now I've already paid and freezing more than in my garage since the wind can hit me. The Raynauds makes winter practice tough as gloves don't keep my hands warm enough. If someone could make a heated grip like the steering wheel in my car I would buy it.

Any way I used to work nearby so it was convenient, but now I hate to drive 1/2 hour there and then back just to freeze while I hit some balls. I usually only go to meet @braveheart there to try out something new and bs.

Honestly I feel like I need to do drills 3 times/week in the net and then hit balls maybe once. The drills seem to help me more than actual range work. I do like the drills where I do actually hit balls though. Hitting ball standing on my left leg is always a good one for me. Hitting balls 1-handed with a wedge is a good one too. Drills like that really work for me.
