Played my only round of the week today (the course was busy all week with the club championship matchplay and the club's handicap open yesterday). I wasn't expecting much, but it ended up being a pretty solid round of 73, with 34 on the back nine - had three birdies in four holes, and had a couple of nice up-and-ins to save pars (particularly the one on the last - hit two solid shots to be about 25 yards away in 2, and hit the chip to about 4 feet).
How much difference does the wind make on a dry, running links course? I played the 14th (380 yards, downwind) with 19° hybrid off the tee and a little 9-iron approach to 15 feet, and the 18th (410 yards, into the wind) was as good a drive as I hit all day and a decent 3-wood a little short of the green.
