How did you shoot today at Golf
garyt1957 Yeah, $120, I don't stop, maybe hit some extra balls,
garyt1957 I play those occasionally.
I have decided to not spend $40 on the old club, and buy a new Eleven Golf 8 hybrid instead. It's like a modern Wedgewood. If I like it, I'll buy 5-PW. It's time for me to do it. Irons are probably costing me 3-5 strokes per round. And the component heads out there are not what I am looking for.
I had one of those rare days today where everything seems to be working - drove the ball well, hit a lot of good approach shots and holed a few putts. Add in a reasonably warm day with little wind and a bit of give in the ground, as well as still being on the shorter winter course, and it was an ideal day for scoring - was able to take advantage, going round in 64 with six birdies and two bogeys (it's a par 68, with no par 5 holes).
Well, I played The Links at Las Palomas today in Rocky Point Mexico. 48-46 but this round is not getting carded. Apparently the course has been under restrictions because of a water shortage. This is one of mt favorite courses and for the 1st time ever, it was dog shit. We had to find patches if weeds with preferred lies to have any decent lie , from the fairways. Such a sad site. This is the only picture I took. The rest if the holes would have broken my camera.
Gawd, no golf for me since I got back home from Texas. It was 16° here this morning when I checked at about
9 AM. I'd like to go south again but when it gets nice here it gets very nice... and it will be 90° + in Texas.

76 at Timber Greens. Had one birdie. They had a shotgun start today and we went off on #11. Got paired with a guy who is a combat veteran from the Vietnam War.
Was shot thru the neck with an AK47 and survived. Battling 3 different types of cancer from Agent Orange. Invited him to join us next Monday. We managed to dodge the rain today.

First round of the season was fairly sloppy…to be expected with the swing change I have going on…but I am happy and can definitely see the benefits as compared to the past few years…especially with the irons & wedges.
Just got into too much trouble from the tee box today on several of the holes…too many pulls into trees and junk on the par 4’s & 5’s…but did have 5 good drives and managed to hit 2 of the 4 par 3 greens.
Shot 47 front 43 back…5 fairways hit & 6 GIR with a total of 35 putts. Missed two short birdie putts dammit and two long ones that were low percentage makes anyhow.
I am a firm believer in the @LogicalOne graphite iron shafts after just this one round on the course today…
…I have not hit my irons as high and far as I did today for I don’t know how many years…I know that it is the 85S shafts soft stepped once (for me at least) more so than it is the heads…but the Alpha C2 forged heads do indeed feel great and are more forgiving than I expected on mishits (the mishits I did have today were mostly toe) and these irons just flat out inspire confidence for me at address.
@LogicalOne putter (#3) performed very admirably today…rolled it very true and I really do like the feel & swing of it…I just couldn’t read a line today for the life of me and rolled several too fast on the front 9…adjusted and did better on the back but overall had too many 2 putts today…but zero 3 putts for the round was a bonus. Really liked the Flatso 2.0 today…pretty sure I will need to put one on my Scotty now.
@LogicalOne L1.XCW wedges are $money$…had a bunch of respectable pitches & chips with them since I only hit 6 of 18 greens today …definitely gonna like these babies more & more once I get a couple more rounds in with them.
Again, the most impressive part of my game today was the iron play…I can’t get over how much I am loving the damn ball flight…no kidding I am talking probably 10-15 yards further with more trajectory & no ballooning…okay enuff already before I jinx this shizz…
Forgot to mention the guy we played golf with yesterday putted with one hand (right hand). Said he started doing it after seeing an amputee play golf. Said his lag putting got much better.
He did put a nice smooth roll on the ball. Good tempo. On short putts he'd put his left hand on his knee. Tiger Woods used to practice using just his right hand. I've never tried it. Not sure I will, but it seemed to work for him.

You should. It’s a great practice routine and show you what a smooth stoke is like. Good for distance control too.

Also forgot to share that we stumbled upon a crime scene on the par 5 thirteenth hole during our season opening round yesterday…
Dogleg right that demands a fade/cut or super high power draw…I hit a great drive but perfectly straight…ended up left rough with obstacles…
Decide to play my 2nd down the left side to not flirt with a grouping of trees in front of me…nope…schwacked a tree dead center & ball ends up directly behind me about 25 yards but with a better opening now to get back into fairway if I aim right a bit…
3rd shot …5 wood and absolutely roasted it…but too much cut and the ball enters a huge tree way up high on the right side of fairway after flying for around 180’ish yards…
I hear my playing partner yelling obscenities as I get closer with the golf cart to pick him up because he was hacking away on the right side of the fairway when I was left…
“You killed it!!” he exclaims…
“What??” I reply…
“The squirrel!! It fell from 30ft out of the tree, hit the ground & flopped around a couple times then died!” he said…
Yup…involuntary critterslaughter…guilty as charged…I honestly felt bad for the poor bass turd…minding his own business up on his tree limb and I killed him with an errant shot…
Pretty sure the odds of getting an Ace are better than killing a damn squirrel with a 5 wood…
Yes…I did buy a round of beverages for our group at the 19th…
Just crazy I tell ya…
