Another Steve Almo story. I was part of a group who helped organize a fundraiser golf tournament for my daughter's high school basketball team. I asked Steve if he would donate a club as a raffle prize. He agreed to send a driver but when it was getting close to tournament time I hadn't received it. He returned my call checking on it when I was in the back seat of an SUV coming home from golf with friends. He asked me when my next long drive competition event was (obviously mixing me up with someone else). The other guy in the back seat could hear Almo on the phone and had this wtf look on his face. When I hung up he asked who the hell that guy was!

Steve sent the driver but it didn't make it in time so I sold it on eBay. ๐Ÿ˜„ Just kidding. We still included it as a prize and I had to deliver it to the winner a couple days later. The guy had never heard of Geek Golf and didn't seem too thrilled, lol.

professor My Ex used to go bonkers about what she called "your imaginary friends"

LOL! Yeah my wife softened her stance a bit after she met a few local FGI'ers and thought they were all very nice. Of course that went out the window a few times when I would talk to Percy (Dyno) and she could hear him saying "dude, you have a mad sexy voice like Barry White, when are you coming to Canada" ๐Ÿคฃ

I started on GEA before the 4.

Only heard about FGI because of the first Desert Storm. I was only 1 of 2 from GEA to show up. (That Was Mr Happy for those who remember ...)

The AZ Mafia took pity on me and convinced me to switch allegiance.

I've never looked back.

Some lifelong friends have been from "Men meeting men on the internet"!!!

MidwayJ VS339!

Still have a couple of those great shafts, along with a poster of Victor!

ode CoachSB was a teacher and later social worker in Indiana, CPS if memory serves me correctly. I think he was one of the moderators that got caught with their pants down when their private forum/messages meant for moderators only went public and some disparaging commentary re other members was in those message

Still wish I had seen those posts before they disappeared.

Par4QC Wasn't that the White Lightning?

I just realized what I was thinking of was the BWL. The Black White Lightning, lol.

Him and his wife were good folks. Religious, but not Catholic, iirc. Pentecostal possibly. Used to talk on the phone a bit. I actually sold stuff on the net for Christian. Not sure what happened, just lost touch.

The first component I bought was a Purefit hybrid head. Tim Hewitt made good posts about clubmaking. I also enjoyed his posts about phone calls from moronic customers.
