PA-PLAYA Now imagine that new business owner demanding that you change your pay and compensation plan so that his employees can participate in the year-end bonus payout that your company's owner has made part of his employees' annual compensation.

I don't see anyone doing or saying that. I think what, if anything, is being said that it is....THIS is how you should have been doing it all along, in order to keep players in place/happy. Who really wants to work for people that are knowingly giving it to your back door, and thinking they are the greatest people ever? You'll stay only as long as something better does not come along, because it's the only game allowed in town!! Choices. They have them now, if they are chosen to make the choice. Only ones making a big stink are the ones getting hurt. Just opposite of the playground confrontation....the bully did not start it. The bully is now crying. jmo

Wouldn't you think that the guys that are staying on the PGA tour would be happy now? It makes it easier to win and more money than before.

PA-PLAYA imagine that new business owner demanding that you change your pay and compensation plan so that his employees can participate in the year-end bonus payout that your company's owner has made part of his employees' annual compensation.

If you are talking about World Ranking Points, I agree with you, as long as LIV is playing 54 hole events.
If they up it to 72 holes, they have a legit beef.

I liken the situation more to a type of Industrial Unionism.
Factory owner (PGA) treats employees like shit with shit pay, as they are the only game in town.
Union comes along (LIV) and disgruntled employees leave for more pay and better working conditions.
Factory owners do everything they can to dissuade defectors using bully tactics, intimidation and threats.
Eventually, factory owners who wish to remain viable, change tune and find more money for employees and upgrade conditions. Greedy factory owners sell or close up shop, failing to adapt to a changing world.

      PA-PLAYA

I like this analogy. It's not like these guys were hurting for money. Especially when you look at the current roster of 48 players.

Ynotgolf And you'd think they would just STFU and play!!?? Now, they want to choose who they play against?? And get sick to their tummys when playing with people they no longer like. šŸ¤£

Can't wait for all the smack talk when they are paired with one another. If I was a LIVer, I'd be laying it on just to see the consequences. šŸ˜„

Par4QC If I was a LIVer, I'd be laying it on just to see the consequences. šŸ˜„

        LOL
I hope Pat Reed shows up in his Captain America gear, with LIV stickers all over it.

Pelley asked them not to wear LIV logos as a favour, (which is against the LIV contracts they signed) after he banned them from any ProAms and Feature Groups etc.
Not sure what world these Tour Executive twats are living in.

One of the LIV'ers should have Norman caddy for him....hopefully someone playing with Rory or JT

wishbone Norman caddy for him....hopefully someone playing with Rory or JT

The caddie should have a laminated list of all Norman's wins and hang it on the bag, then say out loud to the player:
"Remember that shot Greg hit on hole "insert hole" at the "insert tourney name" that sealed the win there?
          That's what you hit here"
Do that all day long. Different tourney for each hole. Won't run out of holes. lol

Imagine working for an immensely profitable business, a veritable juggernaut, adding 350 to 400 million per year into its own coffers off the back of your work/talent. Really? How big does the PGA need to be? How many billion?

The more I read about the suits being brought against the PGA ā€¦ the more I want to see it go, publicly, to court. It could get interesting - if not eye-opening.

            Spuzz
Until about an hour ago, I thought the PGA goon tactics were limited to just threatening suspension to players teeing it up in LIV ā€¦ now Iā€™m reading that, per LIV suits, the threats extended to player sponsors, vendors, and agents too. Not a good look if proven.

What we have are two gigantic egos mudslinging at each other. Reminds me of a grade school squabble -
"mommy, mommy...it's his fault, make him stop" šŸ™„

              Stu1961

If you are using this logic, I am guessing you must live off your own land, make all your own goods, refine your own gas from your own oil rig, etc..

PA-PLAYA Seems like a crap comparison to me, but to each his own.

Mattyv I've done all that. Except the part of gas refining. Had to steal it. But, thats not about golf. Nor does it define me. šŸ˜…

"If you are talking about World Ranking Points, I agree with you, as long as LIV is playing 54 hole events."

Yep, that's my point. Perhaps it's not a great analogy, but I think it was good enough for you to see the angle I was taking. Thank you for helping me to explain it better.

PA-PLAYA World ranking points.....do not they award them at the PGA match play events also? Along with FedEx Cup points. Limited fields/limited play. And The Sentry in Hawaii is winners only, yet get points/ranking.
I really don't know, have to look it up somewhere.

                    Par4QC
Limited field events just need to be approved by the governing bodies to garner points.

Interestingly, I could not find anything in there about 54 hole rain shortened event points ā€¦ just when only 36 holes are played - then, points still rewarded but are reduced by 75%. Iā€™m thinking the 54 hole events may be awarded full points?

                      Par4QC

I used to know. But honestly I'm not sure.

I know that in the past when the PGA Tour would lure guys away from the European Tour, the European Tour required their members to play a certain number of Euro Tour events to maintain membership, to qualify for Order of Merit, to qualify for Ryder Cup, etc. They did this to give their players an incentive to stay active on their tour. In other words, they had to make a choice.

I really don't see this situation all that differently. But that's just my take.

The LIV, to me, is all about guys not having to play in many events and still make tens upon tens of millions of dollars. They've made their decision. The money is more important. I don't blame any of them. I'd probably be the same way.

But it just seems a bit pathetic that they'd bellyache about not qualifying for majors and world ranking points. Because clearly that wasn't more important than the money. Because if it was - they wouldn't have left.

It is what it is. And some of those guys who've made their beds don't like that it is what it is.
