"If you are talking about World Ranking Points, I agree with you, as long as LIV is playing 54 hole events."
Yep, that's my point. Perhaps it's not a great analogy, but I think it was good enough for you to see the angle I was taking. Thank you for helping me to explain it better.

Limited field events just need to be approved by the governing bodies to garner points.
Interestingly, I could not find anything in there about 54 hole rain shortened event points … just when only 36 holes are played - then, points still rewarded but are reduced by 75%. I’m thinking the 54 hole events may be awarded full points?
I used to know. But honestly I'm not sure.
I know that in the past when the PGA Tour would lure guys away from the European Tour, the European Tour required their members to play a certain number of Euro Tour events to maintain membership, to qualify for Order of Merit, to qualify for Ryder Cup, etc. They did this to give their players an incentive to stay active on their tour. In other words, they had to make a choice.
I really don't see this situation all that differently. But that's just my take.
The LIV, to me, is all about guys not having to play in many events and still make tens upon tens of millions of dollars. They've made their decision. The money is more important. I don't blame any of them. I'd probably be the same way.
But it just seems a bit pathetic that they'd bellyache about not qualifying for majors and world ranking points. Because clearly that wasn't more important than the money. Because if it was - they wouldn't have left.
It is what it is. And some of those guys who've made their beds don't like that it is what it is.

I really don't see how 54 holes are any less meaningless than 72 holes. Hell, it could be harder to win or finish high with only 54 holes, not enough time to come back. You better come out firing. Baseball went from 9 inning games to 7 inning games for doubleheaders did that make those games not count? So long as you know how long a game or tournament is before it starts, who cares?
Over the course of 72 holes, it just seems more reasonable to me that the more talented players finish in the money that week, versus 54 holes. It could also be argued that the cut line is also a form of a tournament, adding its own element of pressure.
I just see it differently I guess.
Eguller What we have are two gigantic egos mudslinging at each other
There's a lot more mud slinging from one side and that side should be the adult in the room and it is not.
I hope they get to stand in the corner until they behave
or maybe sit on a stool with a Dunce Cap like real old school.

I do agree with all that. But imo, they do seem to have a valid point about the WR, when the whole situation surrounding the way they are awarded has been. Limited fields, limited play is not a valid reason for denial.
They are side-stepping because the PGA & DP are not recognizing LIV tour/players. Again, I don't even know who awards the rankings.
I'm pissed. I've broke 80 several times and still am not ranked anywhere. Shit. FML
There are 23 tours eligible for earning OWGR points. I’m sorry, but regardless of it being limited field and 54 hole events… the talent and competition in LIV is already greater than at least 21 of those tours (probably 22). The primary reason they are not being awarded points is because the seven members of the governing board are blackballing them.

Why not make them 90 holes then? The only reason 72 holes seems important is because that's the way it's always been. Just like whoever decided 18 holes was a "round"
PA-PLAYA the more talented players finish in the money that week,
Let's just say the players that played the course best for 4 days. I've seen some low tiered players grab some big cash/huge tournaments through the years, and never hear of them again. I've also seen TW miss several cuts. Along with Rory, JT, etc..
PA-PLAYA But it just seems a bit pathetic that they'd bellyache about not qualifying for majors
I think since the Majors are not under Monahan's thumb. that most of the bitching is about the strong arm tactics and bullying he is doing behind the scenes to get the majors outfits to tow the line. It's not his concern.
What Major executive committee wants a half assed field?
I guess we'll find out who has the balls to stand up for their event or not.

never been a fan, not sure the date of the picture
I think whatever side of the LIV tour situation you are on, I think we can all agree that Gary Player is a tool.
That appears to be a pic of Player at the Masters....I could be wrong.
