Sneakylong legacies last forever.
Nobody but his family will remember him for more than a year or two after he dies unless he does something to change the world between now and then. He’s a golfer and that is his legacy. He’ll appear in lists of major champions when people look that up and that will be his enduring legacy. Nobody in the future will care to remember what he did or didn’t do for the Ryder Cup. His golf legacy is valued at $40 mil. Nobody made him a counter offer for his humanitarian legacy.
Brian Barnes once beat Jack Nicklaus twice in one day in Ryder Cup competition. Some old Ryder Cup fans and older fans of European golf might remember him. I doubt any casual golfer under 40 has any idea who he was. He has a fine legacy that will very quickly be forgotten by the world.

But, you have made me wonder....... just where does my pension come from. I know what name is on the check, but where does that money actually come from? 
johnnydoom $40 million is worth way more than any association anyone could have with the Ryder Cup.
Plus, he's going to 'be in the books' a lot more now, in future history. The legacy has been enhanced.

It's just a made up points system to satisfy the American mantra of "gotta have a Number 1" since there's no real end of season, meaning full playoff? Or is there? Shouldn't the Fedex winner be Number 1?
Scottie is Number 1 on the watered down world tour, that's his legacy.

Do you really think, 100 years from now, anyone gives a shit about Henrik Stenson, golfer from Sweden? Except his great grands, if even they do?
I really cannot tell you much about Bobby Jones, and I've done a lot of reading in my life, about a lot of things/places/people. He may well be the least important person I've ever read anything about. That's how important 'legacy' is in my mind.

I'm not sure that is the way Tiger, Hogan, Palmer & Nicklaus think about legacy. And, I'll say especially
Hogan with what he had to go through to post that incredible record after the accident. I find it hard to
believe it was about the $$$. The money went away, but he couldn't put a value on his 'legacy'. JMO

Eguller I can tell you my thoughts on Palmer and Nicklaus ,and if you'd think about it, you might agree.
2 of the most conceited people I've ever seen/listened to. So yes, they are all about 'legacy'. When there was no money, they had to think about something. ( you do know they made very little money playing golf, right?) Just from the small bits I've read about Hogan, he strikes me as a similar type person. Tiger....ehhh well....he just knew he was the best, and didn't have to say anything to that affect. But Jack and Arnie....always had to tell you how good they were and what they were doing with their money in the present, with their names attached.
I don't think Henrik falls in with this company to begin with, esp. for 'legacy'. Only in Sweden will he be remembered/revered. His legacy will be within his own country, and it will be a fine one.
