Member-Member tourney first round was today, and I shot an assiest of ass round. It was a big bag of ass! I simply had no feel for a swing - lots of toe shots, some fat shots, and some pull hooks for good measure.
It was stableford and my partner was doing well - meantime I made one fucking par all day! ONE. I was/am distraught. A lot of good putts that came close to dropping, but none were for birdie.
My one moment of mock glory was #9 - I made a great one-putt for bogey, but we all celebrated my success so excitedly, the guy that has the course record came up to me after the hole - 'Rick, did you just birdie?' (its the hardest hole on the course and would have probably been a skin if I had). No John - it was a bogey, but I was the only guy in the entire group to get a point on that hole! 🤣🤣
The good news is the stableford quota adjusts for day two, so I'll have a lot less points to make. My partner still feels good about our chances - he said 'how many times have you played a round and only made one par?'. "I don't think fucking ever!" 'Exactly', he said, 'tomorrow will be better'
