43 - 43 = 86
Hit 9 / 14 fairways. Not great but much improved finally using the driver exclusively and not the 3 wood off the tee.
Zero made putts. No one putt greens.
Just can’t get the read of these greens.
Missed 6 and 8 footers for birdies.
Getting my humbling new geezer yardages dialed in. So…. I focus on playing smart and on the short game.
How did you shoot today at Golf
Played The slumpbuster yesterday, 38-40-78.
I use the Gary Edwin RSS and he's a bit cryptic in what he gives away for free. But I happened to catch a tidbit about the grip when watching some of his youtube videos and it worked great. Missed one fw and picked up yardage.
Wife and I are doing an overnighter at Sawmill Creek Resort in Ohio. Nice Tom Fazio course. Continued the great driving, missing only one fw. Second shots were not as crisp, hit 7 GIR but left myself some long putts on fast greens. Downhill putts are no joke. Shot 86 with 38 putts. Had 4 straight 3 putts at one point. Playing again tomorrow, expect much better.

The head greenskeeper there is a friend of mine.....I worked for him at another course where he got his start
a hundred years ago, LOL! I agree it's a nice course, and usually in perfect condition!! Play well tomorrow!

Got out for a quick 18 at a muni I hadn't played in several years. The reason became apparent on the first green. Pretty much all the greens were a disaster.
Played mostly poorly except for a stretch between holes 7 and 13. In that stretch I had two birdies, a tap-in par that should've been a birdie, and hit 5 of 7 greens in regulation.
On the 13th hole my approach shot hit the flag on the fly, about a foot above the green surface. I thought I had dunked it. When I got up there I saw my ball mark about five inches right of the hole; it made that mark after hitting the flag. The ball settled about three feet away which was my second birdie.
But I also hit some real stinkers, especially on holes 2, 4, 10, and 14. I didn't keep score.
It was really hot and humid, and I was glad to get back home for a cool shower when it was done.
Annual Herc Hackers gross score (no handicap) 4-ship work scramble today…our 67 was good enough for 3rd place & $200 cash…definitely left a few shots out there but my putter was on
Cool. Do I see a 93
Eguller Do I see a 93
LOL…indeed you do…I don’t know what happened to that team & will have to investigate…
VigilanteTrail Sound like a one man johnnydoom team.

So I decided to be an idiot today and booked a 2pm tee time with an expected high temp of 107°. Apparently I need to be stupid more often because I shot a 37-39 for a +5 76. Probably my best round ever! Played Lone Tree Golf Club and played 15 of the 18 holes as a single. I was taking my time and not rushing, thinking about every shot. Front nine took 1.25 hours and I brrdied both par 5's, had 3 bogeys and only 12 putts. Had 28 putts total. Back nine was 7 pars and 2 doubles. They had a 132 person Jr tournament going that I caught up to on hole 10 so the back nine took 2.25 hrs. I may have to make this a new routine. Damn that felt good. 1st time breaking 80 in 2 years.
Playing as a single is just so much different. I am not thinking about cutting it up with my buddies or worrying about where my cart partner hit his ball. I tend to play a little better in the winter months when I can walk the course and focus on my round a little more. My friends are my handicap.
Mattyv Buddy, I realized the SAME thing a few years ago when I stopped playing my regular course. Played there with a group of guys for years 3 times a week and was just always, not realizing it, hitting stupid shots because I wasn’t thinking golf. We were kibitzing and the course was so familiar, I’d hit shots to the same place all the time, never think.
Once I got a job at a course near my house and didn’t know anybody , just played by myself, I realized it. Now I was paying attention to golf. I thought I played fine before but now it’s a new level.
82 at Timber Greens. No birdies.
Was a bit brisk and chilly this morning for my 6:55 am tee time. 50*, overcast and a 25-30 mph wind out of the North......didn't have my best, but went 39/43 with triples on 2 and 11.
