Worst round in history.
44/43...87.
Every facet of the game escaped logic to my brain. And to my **&% clubs. The only decent chips I had was from the snack bar. Putts were by demons. Drunk-assed, weak, demons at that. Drives were the distances of a seed spitting contest. Double bogies were sometimes a blessing.
But, if we lived in a small rural town, the local paper would have it written up as....."a good time was had by all".
Didn't play but one thing I have to add from my last round, this new swing is really body friendly. Played M-T-T-F and my back feels great. Also played BB Mon and Thurs. Usually my lower back will be stiff after playing that much but nothing. This alone makes the change worthwhile.
Another hot day but this time I took better care of myself.
38-38 / 76.
9 greens and 29 putts. I made putts from everywhere. I owned the par fours, which is super unusual. 3 birdies. Did not hit any par threes and only 1 par five. I missed 2 of the par fives from 50 yards, lol! That distance has been a real weakness lately.
Driving and irons were boss. And putting. What a funny game.
Our team did well. Our 91 year old D player shot 81 from the reds. He only gets 10 strokes from the reds, but still, thatโs a great round.
Was supposed to sub in a league today. Got to the course and it was closed due to heavy rain last night. So I drove to the nearby slump buster but everybody must've had the same idea, it was jammed. Took a longer drive to another course and pretty much had the place to myself. Surprisingly not too wet.
Shot 41-39-80. Pretty decent round, nothing outstanding, nothing terrible. 11 pars, 3 doubles, 33 putts . Oh, brought along a 14 degree driver thinking it's so wet might need carry mote than roll. Go to put a tee in on the first hole, must've leaned a little too hard on the driver and Snap! right at the hosel! Would have liked to have hit it a couple times first.
I shot 42-40-82 at Sandy Creek GC in Monroe, Mich. today. The course (which is usually in very good shape) needed mowing today due to all the rain they've evidently been getting up there. It was OK playing today, but POURED on the way home. Nothing great to report....I decided to ride today to see if that would help me have
"something left" on the back nine, since I've been feeling tired and stiff on the back 9 lately. So, I parred the first three holes, then proceeded to make 8 consecutive bogeys !!! Frustrating game!!! 4 GIR's, 32 putts, chipped
pretty poorly.....
Any of you Canadians playing?
Me, Jesse (grandson), PapaC (his other grandad) and a buddy played a 4-man scramble with our tee time today. Wanted to see how low we could go. Self-imposed 3 drive minimum for each player. We started with 4 birdies, an eagle, then bogey, birdie, par to get to -6 on the front. Cooled off a bit to shoot -4 on the back. Beautiful day, good company, fun times
Did manage to make my league last night. Probably should have skipped it. Maybe the stress of recent events came out because I was crushing my irons, but could only manage a 44 and lost my match. Luckily my partner's opponent must have shot a 60 so we took 1.5/3.
Started on #10, with back hole location it's playing about 190 and I fly the green with the 5 hybrid. I was posing on it only to see it carry maybe 210. Long is no bueno at my course, but made bogey. Unfortunately even clubbing down I went long on too many other holes and my short game was horrible.
#17 they have the tees up so it's maybe only 190-210 to get a good look around the dogleg. I pipe the 5h through the fairway maybe 230 Next shot is 130 to front pin into a pretty good breeze. I hit PW and fly the green; had to have carried 150 so I guess just no spin out of the rough although I got it up over a really tall tree. Made a double. #18 I took advantage of the tailwind and hit driver and half a SW, but left the birdie putt short
We played the back nine twice due to flooding. Again.
38 - 36 / 74.
3 birdies, no doubles. 10 greens, 31 putts. I put two new wedges in the bag. First, a Cally MD4 54/10 with an Accra 100i shaft. I wanted less bounce than my 54/14. I made 2 of the birdies after shots with the new wedge.
And Iโm trying the Eye2 grind in a Ping Glide 3.0 58. I kind of like it but it didnโt get a big workout today.
