DonM The iDrive shaft has 2 spines, which supposedly shouldn't happen with a filament wound shaft.

Didn't know it was. I thought someone had said it was the same as the DTG FGS Plus shaft. Which I know full well that every one has 2 distinct spines.

Yes, they are filament wound. And yes, supposedly the same as FGS Plus.

One thing I noticed with the FGS Plus and the iDrive, my hacksaw grit blade cuts through them like a hot knife through butter. The material is noticeably weaker/softer than any other shaft I have ever cut. I just take that to mean very cheap materials. But until this one, I've felt they, the FGS versions, played well so who cares if the materials are cheap or not. I mean obviously they are cheapest possible stuff, at the price point.

      DonM the FGS versions

I have a lot of them(hoarded the yellow🤨). And the iron shafts. Don't know why/how they perform so well at that price point. Should be total crap, but are much better than a lot of stock graphite shafts in OEM clubs!

I've never failed to find a spine(s) on any shaft using the spine finder I used to make. No matter the cost of the shaft.

DonM Cheap shafts… I remember years ago I bought a Grafalloy Power Light. I think it was 45 grams. First time out it snapped in half on my backswing.

Mattyv thats more than a third of my membership....and who gets to save $26.25🤔

44/46 this afternoon. Our group struggled mightily with super fast greens. I hit the ball well on the front 9 (5 gir) but only parred 2 of them. Twenty-two putts! It wasn't so bad on the back but I stopped hitting good iron shots and only had 2 gir.

51/44 today. On the 5th hole I started yanking everything left. I was 12 over par on the last 5 holes of the front 9. I somehow got the swing back on #10 and played the first 7 holes of the back 9 at 2 over par. At that point I was quite happy with the turnaround but carded an 8 on the par 4 #17 and missed a 2.5 footer for bogey on the last. Damn game.

MidwayJ So you’re someone who’d kick absolute ASS if you only turn in a 9 hole score and the USGA guesses at the back 9!!

Another nice day, another 83. 7 greens and 31 putts. 5 one putts and no three putts. I played the par 3s great and the par 5s like shit. So that’s a switch. Full swing has been pretty sketchy, but putting has been very good after a recent change in my approach to it. Especially since the greens are so damn fast.

I feel like it wouldn’t take much at all to get back into the 70s, but I just can’t keep all the plates spinning.

The score they would have added for the second nine would probably have been about what Jay actually shot.

Played last Saturday, haven't pulled my clubs out of the truck since. It has been wet and rainy since Monday, storm should be past tomorrow or Saturday. Just over 4" so far this week....

81 at Tarpon Springs. Three of us this morning. Had one birdie. Windy and 57 degrees when we (first) went out at 7:07. We were done at 10:16.

I played today. Probably my last round of the year. Probably my worst round of the year. I kept hitting everything thin or off the toe. Throw in more three putts than I'll have in 3 rounds and it made for a disappointing day. I think my head just wasn't in it today.

Weather was decent for late December. Around 58* by the time we finished. We did get around in under 4 hours. AFAIK, this is the only course in the area that lets you off the cart path in the winter.

I can just as easily blow up on the back 9. 🙂

CPO on a muddy track today. The kind where you hit a short iron and it splats all over you. 40-40. Had a 7 or 8 footer on 18 for 79, and I hit it right where I wanted it but over-read the break. 28 putts and only 4 GIR. No 3 putts for the third straight round. That might be a record. No birdies but no doubles either.

Irons were sucky but putting and green side pitches and lobs were great. According to the GIR formula my predicted score was 87. I've never beaten that formula by this much. I'd love to see what would happen if I could learn to hit irons.

I think we won $4 per person.

DonM I'd love to see what would happen if I could learn to hit irons.

That is the 1 goal I hope to attain when I grow up.

YOU know that. But the USGA formula doesn’t know that. You would base your handicap off the 51-44 you shot and turned in. Not the 51-??? ( something closer to 51 than to 44). You’d be better off only turning in front 9 51’s.

Typhoon I get that but if you turn in only front 9 scores and only do so when it's a lot higher than the back 9, you might as well make scores up, lol.
