How did you shoot today at Golf
FauxAmish I started just over 2 years ago. I have broken 100, and 90. I am just not consistent enough to do either on a regular basis. I do my best to laugh at my bad shots, so I get to laugh quite a bit! The best thing I had going for me was my driver yesterday, so I celebrated that. The little things, right? Good company, good driver distance, and decent putting.
Played in a scramble with Son, SIL, and grandson. Holes 1-9 were "shamble" format, holes 10-18 were scramble. We grossed 66, netted 55.25. 1st place was net 55.15. Family golf is the best.

sdandrea1 True dat!
As long as I synch up my swing, it goes straight. If I try to hit it too hard, it flares right. But it never goes left, so it takes one side of the course out of play and allows me to swing away without fear if there is a hazard on the left.
The other thing is that it generally goes farther than my TM driver. So, for now at least, it is in the driver's seat. I am only hesitant on holes with trouble on the right; in that case I hit 5-wood.
DonM I know that the odds are against me ever breaking 80, let alone 70. So I play for MY enjoyment, if I break 90 again I think I'll be happy. Will I keep hoping to break 80? Of course, I can keep striving to do that. As long as I am enjoying myself, and playing golf with good company, it really doesn't matter what score I card.
Today i went around my little course 3x I think...
35-39-40. The 1st round was going very well until I punched my 5 wood OB on #6, 2nd tee shot put me just short of the green after clipping a tree. I had some good company. A married couple, Joanie works in the clubhouse her husband, Joe, is retired, and an older gentleman from Hollywood, California area. We did play from the forward tees.. l did have 1 birdie.
2nd round I hit one of my best drives on #6. About 250 yards from tee to center of the green, my drive was just past pin high, and 5 yards off the green to the right. I made par. It was Joe, Andrew (he also does some part time work at the course), and Kyle who works at a machine shop.
3rd round, it was just Joe and myself, last round of the day. I chipped in on #2 for birdie.
I did give away a few balls, and some tees i got from Kelly @LogicalOne . I also let one of the guys ahead of us, he liked it and said he'd go take a look. Hopefully he buys one, sorry Kelly!!
Walterjn As long as I am enjoying myself, and playing golf with good company, it really doesn't matter what score I card.
Aye laddie, but it is so much more fun with lower scores. 'Fun' can be attained even when playing alone. And the lower scores can be attained by.....PRACTICE! And you do not have to go to the course to practice.
Tip #1......lower scores never come from off the tee nor fws.
Par4QC by.....PRACTICE! And you do not have to go to the course to practice.
Tip #1......lower scores never come from off th
This I do know! I can practice my putting in the living room, on the rug. My chipping and bunker practice requires going to a course. Not enough room at home, and no sandbox...
Moat of my play at my little course is all irons, wedges and putters. The only hole I bother with a wood or driver is #6, the rest of the course is just too short for me. I hit my 7 iron from the blues on #1, 3, and 5. #2 & 8 I use my 52Β°. #4 either my 5 or 6 iron, depending on how I am feeling at the time. # 6 on the blues, either my driver, 3 wood, or 5 wood, depending on how I'm feeling. #8 either my 8 or 9 mostly depends on where the tees are, and which way the wind I blowing. # 9 is either my 5, 6, or 7 iron. From the white forward tees, I mostly club down one club, except #6 then it's my 5 wood at most. The only hole I use a tee on is again #6, every thing else is off the deck, and I do my best to play it as it lies. Winter rules lift, clean, replace happens when wet.
That said, I really do need to get out to my favorite range, and do more bunker, and short game practice.
Walterjn Hopefully he buys one, sorry Kelly!!
Donβt apologize Walter! You have been an amazing advocate and I SO appreciate that!
LogicalOne Kelly, I love my putter! The wedges are great, and the driver is coming along nicely! The guy yesterday, Brandon, kept asking me if I was a stockholder. I gave him a couple of balls, and a handful of tees. On the last hole, he already had his driver out, so I offered to let him hit the head you sent me. I did let him know that the shaft in mine isn't an option.

Our money game organizers put out the year end stats.
I played in it 38 times for $380 ante, and won back $378.42. So for the year I am out $1.52, hahahaha. We wonβt discuss the final period of November and December.
Average gross 81.9. Average net 75.6. Normally I get 6 strokes from the tees we play.
Low gross 74. That was my Uncle Rico moment.
My first game of the year today - didn't have too long to wait for the first birdie, as I chipped in from around 30 feet on the first (to halve the hole in our fourball game - giving away quite a few shots even on the short winter course...) The finish was nice, too - one down playing the last, and got up and down from 40 yards (holed a 12-footer with a few inches of break) to earn the halved match.
Finished my round at 9:30 PM tonight. If you are familiar with Phoenix/Tempe golf courses. Rolling Hills golf course now has 18 holes of lighted golf. All holes are par 3's. My buddies and I were just out playing in 45Β° weather under the lights in the desert. Had a few beers and a great time. Played with my Smith and Wesson Snake Eyes butter knife blades and I was hitting them way better than I expected.
Had the 1st ever night time birdie for our group
on the 3rd hole, making a 8ft putt down hiller that I hit like a 6 inch putt. Shot 73. Only negative on the night was the $110 green fee.
Dinner was a Burger with Brisket on it at Twin Peaks Breastraunt.
Squeezesd in an outing with my Friday league yesterday while SWMBO took the granddaughters shopping. Team took 3rd in 2 best balls. Shot 79. 3 double bogeys

I got to play a new course yesterday. Called Rancho Maria https://www.ranchomariagolf.com/
It was a great time with a buddy, it was worth the $60. I went around a new course with 49/53-102. The greens were a little bumper than I'm used to, and I think that's the only negative thing I can think of for the place. My buddy and I were fairly evenly matched on both nines. He took the front by just one stroke, it didn't help that I screwed up hole 2 with a tee shot OB, a shot from the fairway OB, and carded a 10. My driving yesterday was pretty good aside from 2 and 18, I was able to play everything else I hit off the tee. On the back 9, we were neck and neck until 14, where I gained a stroke. Hole 16 I got 2 more with a nice drive, a low running 7 iron that put me on the green. I ended up 15-20 feet from the hole with a slight downhill putt. I made the birdie putt.
Hole 17 I screwed up a shot from 150 out, a chip, and I got a double.
18 kicked my ass. I power faded one OB. It was a beautiful ball flight, nice and high, justvwrong direction. 2nd ball off the tee put me into the left rough after a bounce off a tree. 5 wood from there into the fairway, slight slice from the fairway to the right rough and about 40 yards to the green with a tree in the way of a high approach. 9 iron bump and run got caught up in the rough next to the green, chip on and 3 putt for a 10. Burger after the round was ok, nothing special at all. We agreed that next time we will be hitting a burger joint so we can get a good burger, and fries.
The pic is from next to the entrance, I got it when we were on 16, my buddy put his approach shot past the green and in the rough.
Walterjn It's the weed, man. Does it to you every time
