Typhoon “2 club gain”

There is no gain for slower swingers. Fact. My Rogues go no farther than my Infiniti's that are 2-4 * weaker. No matter the shafts I've had in either. No matter the length I built them to. They are just prettier. It's all I care about. 😂

Typhoon different weighting

There may be different weighting, as claimed by mfrs., around the perimeter, but if you weigh the head itself, you'll find out they are the same weight as the long iron heads of the same loft from 10 years ago. So, you are swinging a lighter head, at a shorter length. I don't understand how anyone could get 15 yds. more with that setup. You'll say you can swing faster because it's lighter, but the shorter a club is, the slower you'll swing it. Maybe I'm a drunk and don't realize it, because I'm not understanding any of it. I'll report back tomorrow night. I just reshafted the Rogues +1", to get them back to 'old school' lofts/lengths. Lie angles may need changed, but for now they will do.

Are you more accurate with the newer clubs and more solid shots? Just thinking club length.

Then why do you keep buying new irons you silly bastard??😂😂

Not in those clublengths. 8i and down are kind of automatic for me.

THAT is a ponderous question. I have no idea - it's a compulsion.

I’m thinking I’ll end up keeping my Nikes because they will hold their value. My Ping ie1 irons I might put in Nicks bag. Then take Nicks eye2 irons, my Becu eye 2 irons and a few odds and ends to marketplace or trade in. I would not mind once I have a real job again getting fitted for a set of TM p790 irons. Thing is, I wouldn’t use too many of them if I hit them Mavrik distances!😀

Par4QC I'm confused, you quoted me, but the question seems pertinent to many.

I knew he was asking you as well as the "collective" ho bunch.

First dibs unless they are red/orange...............

Hi-COR irons, high tech yadda yadda irons are designed for those over 75 mph mid-iron. It's why single length hasn't caught on with the senior lessor club head speed crowd IMO. Our mid-iron club head speed isn't designed for 4 deg. loft gaps it's more 5 deg to 6 deg.

mid iron speed over 72 mph – 4* increments (average player)

mid iron speed 60-72 – 5* increments (some seniors and some ladies)

mid iron speed under 60mph – 6* increments (seniors and ladies)

I can see a gain for center face contacts, but there is still a cut off point (loft) re: usefulness/getting enough height. All else being equal one would be less accurate with a 33 * 9i then a 42 * 9i.

You guys can get as technical as you want but a 33° 9i is fucking horseshit.

              Beyond horseshit..........

Distance sells clubs to the folks who crave distance. I want accuracy, high flight and predictable distance.

I think our club has the T300 set to demo. they are also super strong lofted. I'll take it out and see what kind of flights I get. Because really I'm just talking out of my butt about this since I've never tried this kind of club. Get off my lawn and all that.

Clubs today are sold by hitting balls of flat mats indoors with a machine calculating distance. It’s no secret that lower lofts create more ball speed. How does that iron work on an uphill, side hill lie in bare or fussy turf with a breeze? The original design of a set of irons giving a variety of lofts from 22 to 50 degrees at graduated lengths still offer the most useable arsenal in your bag. It was never easy learning to hit the longer clubs. Straight shots of a flat Matt indoors is the easiest shot in golf. When I play alone I practice all the shot. I drop a ball under some trees and practice knock down cuts or solid punch outs, I practice fades and draws. I hit plastic balls in my yard most every day hitting 3 and 4 irons. At 66 I don’t have the speed I once had, I need to hit a 4 iron at times from 160 and feel confident of getting on the green. There’s no substitute for greens in regulation to shoot a good score.

DonM My buddy got fitted for T300 irons late last year. I don't think the fitting was all that good for him as he's hitting the ball lower and shorter IMO. He used to play some high launching wide soled irons that I think worked better for him. We would hit similar clubs back then, but now he's at least a club shorter and my Apex Pro 16 irons have got to be a couple degrees weaker.
