I agree. But I can't see any point in the T400 lofts. Supposedly they are targeted at slow swinging seniors. So, give them some loft and launch.

I compare these to my Adams hybrids. I have a 28 degree 6 hybrid, 38.5". It really doesn't go any farther than a 28 degree iron, just higher. And I know it's as hot as any iron. By making it 28 at 38.5", there is some great launch and spin. I'm still waiting for hot irons made like that. Not a T400 29 at 36.5". Two inches shorter, that's a fail in my book.

      Have you hit the T400 29 at that length? The point I’m making is I welcome the shorter length irons covering more distance because I’m going to be more accurate from that distance now.

        John, you have superior swing speed when compared to many of us. That kind of skews your view as you will get more out of some of these modern designs than we will.

This is why many of us dislike single length irons/hybrids as we don't have the club head speed to use a 8i playing length on a 5i 27 deg. loft. You and I are more alike. Our mid-iron 68 -69 mph and guys with 85 mph mid-iron are going to agree with John.

                Probably why the older and slower I get, the more weaker lofts appeal to me.

                  I thought you guys would see the same “2 club gain” that I would see but of course different yardage numbers.

                  So you guys hitting a new 8 iron don’t hit it 15 yards further and more accurate than your 8 iron from 6 years ago? I see where I know the clubs can be designed with shorter lengths, lifts. different weighting and moi but I would figure it would benefit everyone on their own scale.

                    Keep in mind that I use a hybrid in the 31 degree club, so I bought only the 8, 9, W, AW in the Mavrik Max. So that is 34, 38, 43 and 48 lofts. The AW is the same as an old spec PW so they are basically about one club stronger. Distance-wise, I hit the PW about 100 carry, the AW about 85 carry. This is about the same as I hit an Eye 2 9i and W. It's like they just changed the number on the sole. One club gain in sole number only - the Eye 2 W is 50 degrees, so................

                        There is no gain for slower swingers. Fact. My Rogues go no farther than my Infiniti's that are 2-4 * weaker. No matter the shafts I've had in either. No matter the length I built them to. They are just prettier. It's all I care about. 😂

                        Typhoon different weighting

                        There may be different weighting, as claimed by mfrs., around the perimeter, but if you weigh the head itself, you'll find out they are the same weight as the long iron heads of the same loft from 10 years ago. So, you are swinging a lighter head, at a shorter length. I don't understand how anyone could get 15 yds. more with that setup. You'll say you can swing faster because it's lighter, but the shorter a club is, the slower you'll swing it. Maybe I'm a drunk and don't realize it, because I'm not understanding any of it. I'll report back tomorrow night. I just reshafted the Rogues +1", to get them back to 'old school' lofts/lengths. Lie angles may need changed, but for now they will do.

                                      Not in those clublengths. 8i and down are kind of automatic for me.

                                          I’m thinking I’ll end up keeping my Nikes because they will hold their value. My Ping ie1 irons I might put in Nicks bag. Then take Nicks eye2 irons, my Becu eye 2 irons and a few odds and ends to marketplace or trade in. I would not mind once I have a real job again getting fitted for a set of TM p790 irons. Thing is, I wouldn’t use too many of them if I hit them Mavrik distances!😀

                                                Hi-COR irons, high tech yadda yadda irons are designed for those over 75 mph mid-iron. It's why single length hasn't caught on with the senior lessor club head speed crowd IMO. Our mid-iron club head speed isn't designed for 4 deg. loft gaps it's more 5 deg to 6 deg.

                                                mid iron speed over 72 mph – 4* increments (average player)

                                                mid iron speed 60-72 – 5* increments (some seniors and some ladies)

                                                mid iron speed under 60mph – 6* increments (seniors and ladies)

                                                  I can see a gain for center face contacts, but there is still a cut off point (loft) re: usefulness/getting enough height. All else being equal one would be less accurate with a 33 * 9i then a 42 * 9i.
