mikeintopeka I'm glad it's being addressed and it may take some radical measures before Congress has to write a great big check that goes into the rabbit hole.
There will be no check, of any amount, until Dems are in complete control of the whole gvt..
We are spoiled. In every facet of life in the U.S.. We get what we want, when we want it, and companies make sure of it, for the most part. Any type shipping service is fast; it only takes 4 days from coast to coast at the slowest, some places 5 days (in normal times). USPS needs to start over, using what they already have. Do what they need to do to cut their costs while raising prices. Like any other company we might deal with, we will either buy their 'product' or go elsewhere; there are other methods available to all of us, as with anything we might purchase. We will get used to things not being here in a couple days, but why the hurry to start with? If they go out of business then, so be it. But to give them billions of dollars just to keep going down the same route is not logical. We're coming to a totally paperless society anyway, and we'll all be very happy not to grab a stack from the mailbox that all goes directly into the garbage.
How much does UPS or FedEx charge just to send a letter?.....USPS should be able to charge the same, so why do they only charge a few pennies?? Gvt. won't let them?? Does that make sense, or show who is to blame? Giving them money is not the way out; letting them be 'competitive' is. Then again, look at the idiots that decide.
Don't worry, Amazon already has an enormous fleet of vehicles and planes, and warehouse everywhere. We will still get 1-2 day deliveries. We just won't get any junk mail.
