I have a curiosity question. When I ship USPS I weigh my package, print out the label on my PC and pay for it online. I paste it on and take it to the PO for an acceptance scan. I just wonder if the computer printed labels like I do are less likely to get mis-delivered than one that is hand written on the box?

I just received a box from Candukid from Canada to PA with a hand written label
and it was fine and arrived in reasonable time. Who knows these days ????
Things might get worse as reports are the Postmaster General has been instructed to remove sorting machines .
Typhoon If it was just a regular letter or package, I'm not sure I would care really. But it was auction items for a charity event. The event is over without profit from my items which is sad, but I guess I am just hoping that the USPS would do something, anything. I mean, it has now been over 6 weeks and a claim has been put in per their allotted timeline. Nobody at the USPS can actually say where the package is after a month and a half, nor can they tell me if, when or if there is ever a possibility of it being delivered in my lifetime. Oddly, they have the lost package claim in hand but say that they cannot act on it until THEY "decide" on the fate of the package. Not a lot of businesses could get away with stuff like this.
SMT Mike from my experience from early April to present shipping USPS packages from the Chicago area Cook, Lake, DuPage, Will is a shot in the dark. I have had 2 club boxes held up for more than 3-4 weeks coming from that area. I won't take a chance with USPS and ship all clubs viz FedEx Ground/Home Delivery or 2 Day from West Coast. Cost is near same, tracking is good and I have not had one issue with FedEx that USPS has had with Covid issues. It's too bad on USPS but FedEx a for profit business seems to do better in my experience. Shipped 4 irons Madison, WI to Anoka, MN FedEx Home Delivery $15 arrived next day. I get shipments FedEx Ground Swing Science Indy to me Madison, WI next day every time. I won't take a chance.
They have def slowed down. I shipped a putter to Texas on August 3rd, using priority 2 day. Got there today, 12 August.

I am on about 40 days for a two day delivery. They have a better chance of finding Jesus than finding this package. They asked me to file a claim as it is over their 30 day limit, but they said they cannot act on it as the package cannot be located even with the tracking number.

And this is one of the reasons that the USPS needs to be taken over by the private sector. Make it a for-profit business and things will get done. Maybe.
From what I understand he eliminated OT, extra delivery trips and basically took away the ability to insure the mail gets delivered in a timely manner. I believe it is a ploy to discredit the postal service to mess with the mail in voting. I try not to get into the politics on here to much. We have voted by mail in AZ for the longest time with no issues in our elections so if that gets affected I am not going to be happy.
DHL impressed me last week. I ordered something from the UK their time Sunday. I had it on Thursday!
Meanwhile, it took FedEx three days just to get from Salt Lake to Kansas City, and I shipment I wanted on Friday didn't arrive until Monday (almost 10 days after it was shipped).
Par4QC What exactly is a postage stamp used for these days? I was thinking it was being thought of in the same light as the penny.....outdated, get rid of them.
We don't use as many stamps as we once did but we do keep a roll of "forever" stamps that never expire and are good for whatever the current stamp rate is so we don't have to add additional stamps if the rate goes up.
Rickochet When I was doing a lot of selling & shipping Priority, I naturally was going to the P.O. daily. The only people I noticed buying stamps were little old ladies/men; the ones that never had internet, smart phones, etc.. The ones that pay bills by mail and still send cards to the grandkids. Today, everything is email, text/facetime, or automatic deduction. I really could see the 'stamp' becoming obsolete, as all those little old ladies/men pass on.

These little old ladies go to the PO and buy two or three stamps at a time and mail them while there. Still lots of those people around. You would also be surprised how many people still go to the utility company and the like in person and pay bills every month. A golf bud younger than me, a retired engineer has never owned a PC, never had an email addy and just recently upgraded from an old flip phone. All of our reoccurring bills each month are set up for auto-payment of some form, but we still have an occasion for stamps. I do all of my package labeling online and just need it scanned by the shipper. If we could do away with stamps perhaps some of the smaller coins as well.
The USPS should charge the unsolicited advertisers double the rate of regular mail to cut down on the amount of BS they have to handle. Every week at my office I throw out a large amount of catalogs from various vendors. Some days I get 5 of the same catalog addressed to different people in my company. Who needs them anyway when everything can be accessed via the internet.
Well, they actually pay less than the regular mail rate for postage. But the USPS has never been known to run a business like a business. For instance, you can email them from their website and order up ALL the free packing boxes you want and the actually deliver those free boxes right to you at no cost as well. You would like to think their accounting team is banging their heads on the desk over that but.....
