  • Does Tiger make the cut at the Honda this week?

Nicklaus shot a 30 on the back-nine at Augusta on Sunday back in '86, at 46 years of age, to win his 18th major.

And we're seriously having this discussion about a 14x major winner who was greater? Who couldn't lay off the competitive juice and ended up sacrificing his health and career due to injury?

Seriously?

What part of Dr. Anthony Galea do people prefer to not consider?

And he's still FIVE majors short of eclipsing Jack's record????!!!! LOL

Cut line presently at +4 .

Tiger should easily get into the weekend if it stays there.

Weirfan Premature assumption. The scores are still going up. What if he shoots +6?

Hell, if he shoots Par again, he may have the lead.

PA-PLAYA What of the fact it took JN 163 starts to win those 18; TW 69 for 14 wins?

This subject will only be resolved after all of us, that had the opportunity to see both players play, are deceased!

PA-PLAYA yes, why not, wax poetic all you want about Jack, but Tiger is the only one we could have this conversation about. I still consider Jack's record better, but TW is right there. And the rest is just conjecture re Galea, etc. I hate the moral discussions about athletes, we have no idea who they really are. I'm sure Jack is a swell guy, but that doesn't give him extra points to being a better golfer. I think there are enough points to be made.about Tiger to say he was a better golfer than Jack, but Major record is not one of them. Tiger would need to win several times more, including a major for me to say he's better than Jack and yes I'm saying he does.not need to eclipse.Jacks major record.to be considered better😎

Oh, I’m waxing. For sure. Get back to me with the GOAT talk when he at least wins four more majors.

Until then, as you accurately stated, it’s all conjecture. 😎

LeBron will not be considered greater than MJ until he either ties or bests Jordan’s record. It’s that simple.

Some will want to compare competitive eras, which is fine. I’ve got plenty of examples, between Trevino, Watson, Weiskopf and Palmer, to make an argument.

Who did Tiger have to overcome? Vijay Singh? Phil Mickelson? Who else? Please don’t tell me Rory Sabatini stood in Tiger’s way. Don’t try to validate Y.E. Yang’s victory back in 2009.

Compare who Jack finished 2nd to compared to who Tiger finished 2nd to.

            Then get back to me.

PA-PLAYA The MJ/LeBron comparison should clearly not be the way you stated it is. Basketball is a team sport. MJ never won a single title by himself.

PA-PLAYA no sh1t. MJ is a better player period. Bron will likely pass his stats and may equal out or come very close to MJ championships, but will never be considered GOAT by serious fans of.the game. 6-0. MJ,s run and his play and his game winners and his killer instinct will not be surpassed by Bron.

Championships should be the primary gauge but it's not the be all end all and stats and other factors are very important, case in point Terry Bradshaw v Joe Montana. Are they equals? And if not why so? What about Bill Russell? GOAT? I don't think so, a great player, but not even the best at his position.

Re Jack I think he is GOAT, but I also think Tiger is every bit the golfer Jack was. He had MJ,s killer instinct.

Par4QC What of the fact it took JN 163 starts to win those 18; TW 69 for 14 wins?

                Very compelling point.

At T9 right now and playing well. Hardly anyone going low today.

It's not quite that compelling. Tiger got his 14th win after 52 starts while Jack got his after 64 starts (both counted through the end of the calendar year of their 14th win). Still quite a higher percentage by Tiger, but not nearly the gulf that the overall records would indicate. And several of the other top major winners were contemporaries of Jack (Player - 9, Watson - 8, Palmer - 7, Trevino - 6) whereas, so far Phil leads Tiger's contemporaries with 5. At this time (current number of majors Tiger has started) in his career, Jack had just as many major wins as Tiger and Jack won 4 more after 1975, but we don't know if Tiger will ever win another.

rsvman Correct, by this logic 'Big Shot' Bob Horry is one of the all-time NBA greats.

Rickochet I am also watching Chamblee who has been a huge Tiger basher over the years rubbing his meat raw watching Tiger's play today with his new swing.

These jerking-off-watching-Tiger jokes never stop being funny. I laugh every time. It's true! I've never seen announcers salivate over even mediocre shots.

"Oh my, now he misses that putt but what a clean stroke... What a smooth... Oh... Oh mama... MAMA!!"

                    Rickochet

A great putter like Tiger should be a champ at curling too, but I think it might be hard on his back.
