JB Holmes - what would you have done?
lambo I find this thread interesting. JB took 4 minutes and 10 seconds to make a shot on the 18th hole where he clearly had a decision to make with a possibility of a "win" and the media jumps on his case and the herd follows.
I like Jordan Spieth, but Jordan took 20 minutes to play his shot in the Open and it was on the 13th hole - not on the 18th.
Personally, I would have taken as long as it took me to be settled in my own mind about what to do. Even when JB did take the shot the results indicate he still was not comfortable with his decision.
I agree. If this had been Tiger the media would have said,"This is a very important shot for Tiger and he needs to take all the time he needs to make sure his decision is right."

PA-PLAYA If it were only one instance....
JB takes 3 minutes over every f-ing shot. He's the poster child for slow play. Hard to watch. And players playing in the groups behind him know this. And he's a homeboy of mine... a Kentucky boy. I do pull for him. But it's incredibly difficult to watch him play on a Sunday afternoon when he's in the coverage. He needs to address his slow play.
If he is that slow and violating pace of play rules the PGA needs to address this.
I would like to see JB's comments about all of this.
He's not the only one. It's hard for me to be overly critical of JB alone. Until the tour starts doling out penalties - nothing's gonna change. Lots of guys who take too much time to play.
If me, you, or anybody else were playing behind a majority of these guys on a weekend - we'd be bitchin' up a storm. And rightfully so.

PA-PLAYA Again, I ask the question... did you or did you not tune-in?
And if not - why?
I watched it all day and I found it to be no different than any other televised golf event. Conditions were tough and lots of boo boo's by lots of players. All of the final pairings were stepping on themselves on the final holes. I found it to be entertaining golf. Play is always slow with the final pairing on Sunday. And add in the many commercials. It is what it is. If you don't like televised golf don't watch. This whole topic would never have been an issue if the commentators had not run out of skin salve after Tiger finished.

hah! very true about the Tiger salve lol!
Glad you enjoyed it. I probably would've watched, but was too busy rearranging my sock drawer. lol
I'll start watching a week or two prior to the Masters, I guess. Might catch some bits and pieces here and there, but really just not motivated to watch.
When I'm actively playing - I'm much more inclined to be interested. Which is basically April through October, more or less.
Doesn't help that I'm currently undergoing a home remodel project. Getting up very early, going to bed very late, and just tired. lol...
Looking forward to March!
If they do go to a shot clock, it better be used on the greens as well. That's where I get red assed. Putt the fucking thing would ya!! Geezus H Christ!!!

And make alignment marks on the balls nonconforming. The pro's spend too much time aligning that mark on an 18" putt. What makes it worse is that the public hacks see this on TV and do it on the course as well.

Well, I worked 10 hrs. Sunday. But did tune it a bit at work, just a few holes here and there, to see how TW would finish. Now, I'm not saying everyone was taking way too long, but on 1 tee, TW and his group waited 23 minutes to hit. Then to top it off, I last saw TW tee off on #8(his 17th hole). I got home a bit later, maybe quite a bit later, walked into the living room and the wife was watching TW. I told her it must be a tape delay because an hour ago he teed off on #8, and he was just now waiting to hit his second shot on #9!!
Did I mention the fact that they went off in 3s on both 9s?? That always speeds things up. So I hear them say.
Not saying, again, they were all playing with their dicks, just maybe each other's.
This is why I quit playing tournament golf. Not because someone was playing with my dick, but because they were slow. I mean slow playing. Golf, not with my dick. No one touched it. Well, I did, but I had to pee.
Forget the shot clock, a swift kick to the gonads will do....JB best get a cup, although given his layup, he only needs a peanut shell!
