  • JB Holmes - what would you have done?

And he has 4 pga tour wins and 21 mil in career warnings and he's worried about a paycheck....hmmmmm, nahhhhh!

Edit, career warnings, damn autocorrect, should say earnings!

Rickochet If he were put on the clock, he would have 40 seconds to play the shot. He is always painfully slow but 4.1 minutes is ridiculous and unfair to the other players and the fans.

In situations where a player is taking too much time his playing partners should go ahead and hit their shot. In this case Noren should've signaled to Holmes that he would go ahead and hit his shot. If I was Noren that's what I would've done. Noren ended up hitting a good shot, but having to stand their and wait close to 5 minutes could be a disruption for anyone.

Easy for me to say, I would have gone for it. I always do and that is why I am not a PGA player, well that and I suck, but that’s part of it!

If I were Holmes' caddie, I'd have voted for going for it. He's got the length and he wasn't going to win by laying up.

Sneakylong Noren ended up hitting a good shot,

He airmailed the green and was lucky it didn't exit the course down the walkway.
It was likely a result of the extra adrenaline he brewed up getting pissed off having to stand around and watch JB Dumbass the "professional" figure out a simple shot.

Either way Noren needs to do better, can't blame it on JB as irritating as it is! The other reality is that if they weren't on the clock, nada was gonna happen as it's the last hole. I think he's been chastised now by the media, his peers, and bloggers🙂, if that ain't enough for him to speed it up, then he really is Captain of the DB's!

If you want to see me post an ugly score just put me out there in a five hour round. I play well when I get in a rhythm. My buddy and I get around in less than four hours without rushing. When my buddy sees a player 240 out waiting for the green to clear with an iron shinning in their hands he goes nuts. If I’m playing an important shot I want to make my decision, step up and hit it. No paralysis by analysis.

That was liking watching paint dry, just hit the ball....hell you laid up any way.
I thought Noren looked like he was getting a little irritated with what was happening,
and it showed when he blasted the ball over the green and down the tunnel....
        It DID affect him! IMO

ode Either way Noren needs to do better

        Maybe so.
However, JB was getting slower and slower after each bogey (3 in a row) and was taking 6 practice swings at one point on a simple lob from beside the green.
I would have putted out and John Daly'd him and I am middle of the pack speed wise.

I think what you are seeing on social media and mainstream media is a theme.
Euro guys chastising (Luke Donald) and Americans saying he wasn't slow (eg. Jimmy Walker)
It's a result of two different rules enforcement policies, which is ridiculous, imo.

          Tinker

Better not play behind DC 300 and a few other Buzzers. 240 is a big 5iron , smooth 4i for him.
i have to be up in the elevation of Sedona to hit my 4i 240 . Its a 4/5w otherwise

I felt Noren should have told him he was going to hit. They play out of turn when a guy is waiting for a ruling, etc.

So how long does it normally take to decide which club, check the wind and get read to hit? A minute maybe? So JB took 3 minutes more for a very important shot in adverse conditons. BFD. Everyone is getting all red-assed over 3 f-ing minutes. 😡

The only way the tour turns 6 hour rounds (as 3-somes, no less!) into 4-and-a-half hour rounds is to start doling out penalties. I'd love to see some of the notorious slowpokes Day, Furyk, Holmes, etc. have to figure out how to execute their upcoming shot via a 40-second shot clock.

Once the buzzer goes off - zoinks! Add another stroke! And if the buzzer goes off in your backswing - tough shit... should've gotten into your routine the second it was your turn to play.

And it should sound something similar to an "X" from family feud. And maybe have tasers set to go off once the buzzer sounds on the offending players.

I'd actually watch more golf if those options were in play. Wouldn't miss a tournament! LOL...

I think someone has a man crush on JB! 😍

In fact, let's just go ahead and do it. Can't play your next shot within 40 seconds of the time it was officially your turn to play - you get tasered.

I'd watch every weekend. Ratings would be huge. Televised golf would be fun again.

Imagine the look on Keegan Bradley's face, after taking 80 seconds to hit his wedge shot from 140 yards, as though he had a cattle prod stuck up his ass because he couldn't get his ball in the air prior to 40 seconds.

This stuff would be priceless! Count me in! I'd tune in every week! lol

Rickochet three minutes is not a long time to do certain things: eat breakfast, take a shower, or read a magazine article, just to name a few off the top of my head.

But what if it took you three minutes to, say, enter your PIN to pay for your groceries, or to sign your name on a document? That would be crazy long.

The perception of the length of three minutes totally depends on what the task is that one is attempting to accomplish. Three extra minutes to hit a golf shot, in my opinion, is way too long. I don't want to be behind the person who takes three minutes to key in four numbers on a keypad, and I sure as hell don't want to be behind the golfer who takes three extra minutes to hit a golf shot.

Spuzz he still has to have the balls to make that shot, but I do agree if there is ever a shot where it would be impacted by this situation it's going to be moreso the touch shots. Shame really!

I hear all the time how pace of play, at least in some parts of GB&I, is fast, ie 4somes walking in 3.5 hours or less,.it almost seems impossible given how.the pace of play is in the states and the attitudes like JB, etc., IMO I think there are far more folks who want an acceptable pace of play than not, but the reality is it won't change. JB feels entitled because, enter all the BS excuses you've already heard. I say kudos to those who have spoken up, hopefully Noren confronted him, in a professional way.

I would not play golf if it were always that slow....to me pace of play is Paramount, I'd rather play a average course with good pace then a dream course at 5-6 hrs. Every now and again OK, hell even 4.5 hours feels slow to me.

Weirfan haha, I was thinking, “he’s going to be boiling behind me, I’ll pull iron at that distance” ( when all is working well). I was going to just 🤐, because I generally get pissed watching guys that can’t hit the ball 220 off the tee waiting to hit their layup in while the other group clears. I get annoyed waiting for the fairway to clear pretty often, which I don’t know why I wait, the likelihood of me hitting something IN a fairway is pretty low.
