Bangoman the funny thing is, those artists I posted have been around for a long time and they are making it in the industry. Ray Wylie is the one who wrote Up Against The Wall Redneck Mother, made famous by Jerry Jeff Walker.

Elizabeth Cook is a favorite artist of Jay Leno. He had her on his show a few times and she hosts a radio show on SiriusXM Outlaw channel 60.

As for Mike Farris, the guy is great. True story... his former band, The Screaming Cheetah Willies opened up for Skynyrd and ZZ Top at Phillips Arena on the 2nd night the new building was open. My friends and I thought they were absolutely horribe. Last year, I heard Mike Farris on the radio. He sounded familiar so I looked him up. Turned out it was the same guy... but he has now gotten clean (dark days of drugs, etc in his past) and gotten saved. Interesting how the same artist can be so different.

Another one I really like is Will Hoge. Been around forever but doesn't try to fit a "popular" mold.

Quick Corb Lund story and then I'll go find something to post. He was playing in Austin a couple of weeks ago and announced that the next song was "weight of the gun". People clapped. He was kind of floored that people in the crowd knew it. Our local Americana station's been playing it for a while.

Here you go Steve. Meet the Old 97's... been around for a long time. I think this song gives their opinion of your opinions. Ha ha ha

OK one more for now in the newish catetory, Lake Street Dive

The old 97's............so-so and the worst part...all I see here is EGO by the singer...why anyone with a lousy voice who just strokes his guitar has some sort of ego is beyond me. If the Ego shows...No Soul, folks.

Jason Isbell..........Not bad...not bad at all. Very soulful...he has a chance to make a living doing this at small venues.

Will Hoge..........Too Bruce Springsteenish...all forced not natural

A little James McMurtry. More of a singer/songwriter. But this is one of his most famous songs.

          A little SoCal reggae

          Common Sense

Dumb video but like her voice.

            Bishop

pike51 Don't think we're going to impress big Steve, McMurtry is a great storyteller.
