professor how about stop letting criminals plea down to lesser charges in exchange for information about someone else... you get caught as a felon in possession of a firearm, you get the book thrown at you...
How about we stop making jails places the criminals don't mind going to. How about we make them more like work camps where they do some hard work, or pick up trash, and make them miserable while they are incarcerated...
Why should their victims be the ones to suffer? Make the punishment fit the crime again... then again, I'm for public execution, and chain gangs....

The issue of a modern civilized society that normalizes mass shootings and gun violence actually should be apolitical. Again, it should be a public health / safety issue.
If wanting a society with less mass shootings / gun violence is considered far left, then count me in. Meanwhile the thoughts and prayers solution seems to be doing absolutely nothing.
Having a mass shooting at a Super Bowl parade should be a shocking abhorrent event. But in these times it’s just another ho hum statistic. Next!!!
