scotts33 I like the Durabrite felt, they used to be blue now gray I believe. Don't get a 30" as they turn to fast to do a nice job.

This is true. I never bought the 42" because I already had a really old 30" and it's hard to get them nice unless the OD is already super close. If I want them to look really good I do them manually. I do like the blue belt.

If you want to slow down your 30" belt sander just use a router speed controller.

I've been using a 30" since day one. To me, as long as you rotate the clubhead in a smooth, consistent fashion it works fine.

I agree it will burn or flat spot if you're not careful.

A good turning arm makes a big difference too.

Once its turned and cleaned up with a little acetone, they look great!

I used the "shoe shine with very light sand paper and then wipe with Acetone" method. It's not perfect but the big sharp raised edge is gone. Good enough for me, hopefully good enough for @Bravopilot

Good Job. You have a little bulge, but that happens sometimes.

Did you tape the hosel and shafts? If you tape the hosel with one layer, you can probably get closer and take some of the bulge out.

Thanks! Yes, now that I have a little experience, I will take the bulge down, if @Bravopilot wants me too. I did not use any tape. The sandpaper was so soft, it had no effect on the hosel, and I stayed away from the shaft.

If you do that, oftentimes the plastic builds up and you have a big lump.

The belt is always turning down, top to bottom, you should always be going AGAINST that direction. meaning, you should turn the head counterclockwise.

Not really, doing it the way you described, way too much unnecessary work.

I usually...

Mask the hosel w/ tape
Grab a strip of 220 grit and "shoeshine" the ferrule with it til close to the right diameter
Spin the ferrule on piece of shop towel wet with acetone to get it to final size/sheen

Shine it up with some car wax.

I measured it. Had to add a gnat hair to each head......and they're hard to find since the pandemic.😉
