Thanks! Yes, now that I have a little experience, I will take the bulge down, if @Bravopilot wants me too. I did not use any tape. The sandpaper was so soft, it had no effect on the hosel, and I stayed away from the shaft.

SMT you should always be going AGAINST that direction. meaning, you should turn the head counterclockwise.

That's the way I've always done it.

Not really, doing it the way you described, way too much unnecessary work.

I usually...

Mask the hosel w/ tape
Grab a strip of 220 grit and "shoeshine" the ferrule with it til close to the right diameter
Spin the ferrule on piece of shop towel wet with acetone to get it to final size/sheen

Shine it up with some car wax.

SMT If you do that, oftentimes the plastic builds up and you have a big lump.

The belt is always turning down, top to bottom, you should always be going AGAINST that direction. meaning, you should turn the head counterclockwise.

That's what I meant Mike I stated it incorrectly. ☺

I measured it. Had to add a gnat hair to each head......and they're hard to find since the pandemic.😉

I've always used a 1"X30" belt sander. It's like everything you learn. Once you get onto it it's easy. The best
belt I ever found was a linen belt. It turned the ferrule down easily and if you taped the hosel and shaft it
left no marks. I then used strips cut out of Bounty (it had to be Bounty) paper towels soaked with acetone
and spun the club against it. If I was really being picky I'd finish it off with a felt belt and glanz wachs. Sadly,
by the time I quit making clubs I could no longer find either linen belts or felt belts.

Turning ferrules is for squares 😉

Last time I did ferrules,I wrapped a piece of sandpaper around it and spun the shaft using my hand in a rolling motion with the shaft on my leg. Also how I've polished the ferrule with acetone and paper towel.

I remember mcburbn had his daily golf question on the old fgi site. Wish he was still around.

James @customgolfcenter showed me his way. He gets a good white cloth a good bit saturated with acetone. Place the cloth in the palm and fingers, place the club into it and use your hand lasso-style to spin the club. Hope that makes sense.

It works but there is a learning curve.
