Par4QC If you understand that, then you know why I dislike the term "hitting down". No one....hits down on a ball.
If the clubhead is moving down when you hit the ball how is that not hitting down? This should be good.
Par4QC jmo, but 'negative AoA' is not 'hitting down'. If you are hitting down, your driver will continue down. Your club will never go up.
Why? The swings an arc, it goes down then goes up. If you contact the ball while it's going down you're hitting down, what's hard to understand about that?
This could only be an argument in the Last Tee.

This is why people 'try to' use high loft driver heads. Move. Your. Ass. Over. You'll get the height from that 10 the same as you do now with that 14. With less spin. Maybe.

I'm not arguing anything. Stating fact. If I hit down on that ball, you can be damn sure it's going down.
I think you’d be right if you hit directly down on top of the ball as if to pound the ball into the ground.
But with a single digit negative angle of attack with a lofted club the ball with be launched in the air.
That’s just physics. No? If not then the earth is flat. Lol

What length are those drivers? He's either 7' tall or those drivers are like 40" long
Par4QC That's like saying that if you are in a wagon and you push the handle to the left, the wagon is going left. Not gonna happen. When you push the handle left, the wagon is darn sure gonna turn right. Because, well, that's the way wagons work.
Your golf ball, same as anybody else's, is forced to follow the laws of physics. Hitting down on the ball is going to impart a lot of backspin onto the ball, which is going to make the ball go up.

Read my lips....I do not hit down on any golf ball with a driver. And they always go up. Always!
And I use lower lofts than most here.
It's why I'm such a bad golfer.
No wonder OEMs are making so much money off high lofted drivers today. They are probably the ones preaching to hit 'down' on the ball. And yes, everything you read nowadays says use more loft. Why? Because they know what people are doing out there......hitting down on the ball. It is so simple for them to sell you that club than try to convince you to change your swing a bit. Plus, there is a money factor for them.
What does 12* minus 3* equal??? Hit up!!! And they said they can't hit a 9* driver. Liars.
And when people say 'the Pros do it', well, I just laugh. Because we are not Pros and need to stop trying to copy anything they might do, because when they do it, they do it for a reason. And have practiced those shots since they could walk.
Can one take a divot without hitting down?

It is a bit bizarre that in a geezer driver thread the talk is about what pros do, and now divots. Long live the 3-1/4" tee!

Yesterday, I am waking to my car at the grocery store two guys arguing about something one said to another about his parking. Same store week earlier one guy cuts in line in front of others on a automated check out line. I am in a hurry to get to work. Two guys in a shouting match. Sheesh people.
