  • LIV Players and Participation in The Masters Golf Tournament

Like we’ve all seen already, some of the PGA Tour sponsors take Saudi money so where are these protestors at all these other events?

Eguller So these people, these folks alone, know why the LIV was started. Interesting and false of course. If folks are so against this, then nationalize the PGA Tour and make it truly a US thing.

johnnydoom I might be inclined to say the retaliation may have been misdirected if you twist my arm

That was my point. Hit where they trained, etc. but…..

Eguller I don't necessarily disagree with you on the policy or actions. I just disagree with anyone saying the LIV players are putting money before country when their country (no matter which one they are actually from) doesn't have any official beef with the Saudis. You can't be betraying your country when your country's official stance is that the Saudi regime is not culpable. You could be betraying someone's personal belief or principal, but that is an individual thing and not tied to the national interest projected by the elected leaders.

Eguller The group, 9/11 Families United

I haven't done any searches, but when did this group come into existence? Surely, it must have been after the LIV tournaments held inside the U.S., as I never heard of them til this thread.

Be very curious to see who funds this group. And their attachments to the PGA. Just a 'guess'. πŸ€” "Dark money".

Par4QC Surely, it must have been after the LIV tournaments held inside the U.S.

Nope. They protested earlier at Bedminster. They've been around a while from all I can tell - sponsoring
legislation for disclosure, etc. Seems to be made up of survivors, friends, family and so on. Can't find anything about their finances however. ??

Eguller With all the millions they each got from the deaths, it could well be totally self funded, but I highly doubt it when you can get Congress to enact things. They typically really have no cares for Joe Public, no matter what happened to them.
And to be sure, the founder is getting fat, off those millions.

Eguller There is more than one group. 9/11 United and 9/11 Justice groups (most in the news) are anonymously funded. Love when they hide, but clearly have funding as one group (9/11 Justice Group) spent $230K on TV ads.

Hard to tell if these guys are more pissed at Trump golf course supporting or the Saudis.

Subsonic Copy, bet not a single one joined a service to defend the US from this evil nation (kingdom). Protesting a golf event works. Perhaps they should protest at the next event held in Saudi Arabia. Not a fan of SA, but I simply elect to not watch LIV, or PGA Tour now based on their reactions. Always vote with my dollars.

Just want to add my two cents on any 9-11 families protesting LIV players in the Masters.

Good for them. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ Something we should celebrate. Want a glimpse of the alternative. Look to Russia and Iran.

Russia is imprisoning protesters and Iran is publicly hanging protesters.

Sneakylong Russia is imprisoning protesters and Iran is publicly hanging protesters.

Are those bad things? We send people to prison for writing bad checks. Sometimes, for life!! 1 of just many examples of our stupid systems.

And, what are protestors? What do they do?

We all read/watch/listen to the news. Do they think we do not know what is going on/has gone on in our country?
In 20+ years what have they done for the good of our lives?

Thus, they are worthless & troublesome. And the last part costs us all, not just the country. No country needs protestors; people are not stupid, as a whole.
                  So, hang 'em!!
                  jmoπŸ˜²πŸ˜‰

Subsonic Has nothing to do with right to assemble, nor freedom of speech. It (protests) are a total waste of money (ours and theirs) and a disruption of life for almost all of us. Protests come in a lot of forms, and always costs. Money and integrity of our country as others see us/laugh at us. (yes, it's how I feel they do)

Have you not watched TV the past 3 years?? A lot of people have gone to prison for 'protesting'. And the Constitutional defenders sent them there. As they well should have. Actually....they should have been hanged.

Subsonic I haven't watched any myself for over a year. When it got to about the 6 yr. mark of all the bullshit, I quit.
I should protest....they still are not done.

Par4QC Are those bad things? We send people to prison for writing bad checks. Sometimes, for life!! 1 of just many examples of our stupid systems.

Yup, public hangings and imprisoning people for protesting are bad things. πŸ™„ The list is very long on what (good) protests have done for the country starting with the Boston Tea Party.

Bottom line the right to protest is essential in a democracy. Not so much in an autocracy. Not so sure about people not being stupid. lol

In case you ever want to protest here's some guidelines. lol

So right. I hardly ever pay taxes when I breathe fresh air....outside only, btw.
You cannot take a shit without paying taxes. Think about it. Unless you do it in the woods. And no one sees you.

Par4QC Where I live they turned to fees so they can remind us before elections, they lowered/did not raise taxes. Believe your example requires a fee--paid in advance. Thank you very much.

Bravopilot Ahhh, yes. Big diff.....taxes vs. 'fees'. I forgot. Fees are why taxes are so low, makes perfect sense.

johnnydoom Their own countries have no sanctions against the Saudi Arabia. Not sure why the golfers would, or should, be held to a higher standard than their own governments have. It's their right to protest though, and I'm sure they are being compensated in some way for it.

                            This exactly.

Eguller How long will it be before the 3000+ US citizens murdered, mostly by Saudi nationals

Maybe I'm just not remembering but is there ANY evidence that the Saudi state was involved in 911 and not just some of their citizens? I for one would not want to be held responsible for all the terrible things lone wolf Americans did all over the world.
And if there was proof we should have bombed the shit out of them and worrying about something as trivial as LIV wouldn't be an issue.

sdandrea1 free if political implications. Like in the Olympics,

Nothing has been more political than the Olympics through the years

garyt1957 And if there was proof we should have bombed the shit out of them and worrying about something as trivial as LIV wouldn't be an issue.

From all I can tell, not all of the investigation results into the event have been released and are classified. Currently,
it appears that 9/11 group and others are still trying to get the info released. Good luck with that.

Like other things the Saudis have done, they believe they helped fund, etc. their efforts in 9/11.

Eguller If the U.S. government is hiding incriminating evidence against a group that funded and/or organized terrorists that killed U.S. citizens, then the protesters have chosen the wrong entity to protest.

Eguller Like other things the Saudis have done, they believe they helped fund, etc. their efforts in 9/11.

And we taught them how to fly!

garyt1957 I for one would not want to be held responsible for all the terrible things lone wolf Americans did all over the world.

And yet, a lot of times we are. I would never set foot outside the U.S. myself. I no longer gamble, esp. with my/on my life.

Eguller So, if you have some rogue employees that keep doing things you know absolutely nothing about, you are responsible for their actions? You gave them bonuses, and salary to spend.

What about that gal that was denied entry to the Rockettes? Maybe she was doing things 'on her own', for her company.

I'm not defending any damn foreign country, just saying things are written the way Americans want them written. Due diligence, please.

                                  Eguller the Saudis helped

Correct...Saudis.....does not say 'Saudi gvt.' directly. If...I read it right.

Eguller This states their case very well.

The only thing that does is make me believe that the kooky conspiracy theories that the U.S. secretly organized the whole thing to gin up an excuse for wars to enrich the military industrial and government complex might possibly have had some merit.

                                  Par4QC

You can go outside of the U.S.. Just make sure it’s a country that is a democracy. πŸ˜‰ Anyone who travels to a country that isn’t is taking a big chance.

That info came from the recently released, declassified FBI investigation, not some conspiracy theory.

Eguller It supports the conspiracy theory. Why would the U.S. Gov. suppress Saudi involvement? Saudis were asked to facilitate attack? Saudi money going to politicians? Saudis have photos of U.S. President cavorting with loose women? It certainly wouldn't be the oil. We could've sent the military in and took the oil for ourselves if we had the justification that they were funding the terrorists. Maybe I'm overlooking some other possibilities, but the first two seem to make the most sense if the incriminating evidence was available and deliberately suppressed.
