I bought and sold a number of the early release TM driver that were illegal due to core. They were longer than the same TM driver that was then tested legal. The key was to hit the ball dead center on the screws and you got the benefit of the physics involved. Off center hits did not seem to make much difference. So you have to ask how often do you really hit the driver in the sweet spot?
Most golfers did not realize the difference in the legal and illegal TM driver was easily recognizable by the face lines. So I ended up buying & selling quite a few over several years. I was actually amazed at what some bidders would pay. I tend to be value oriented, but it made me realize when some people want something, price is not an issue.
