I'm probably in the mid speed category. I like a ball with good wedge spin as the course I play has hard fast greens. I bet most premium balls will be with in 4-5 yards of each other. Would like to see the full list, not just the top 5.
Longest Ball in Golf

I like how he made the statement at the end, about spin. jmo, but far too many have their heads up their ass about spin. Esp. 'caps of higher double digits....even a lot of single digits. I relate spin to distance loss.
And, if you can spin a ball, then you can use a 2 pc. as well as a 3 pc., and it doesn't have to have urethane. The covers don't last as long, but they aren't $5/per either.
I was not the least bit surprised to see the Prov1x tops for the low speeds. They do fly.

The Tour Response is a great ball. Soft feel, same cover as the TP5 in a 3 piece ball.

I will concur re the Maxfli Tour. It is legit and I am in the mid category for speed. It is long and performs well everywhere else.
And only two balls crossing over.....
....BS
Well, I think the results show why the Pro V and the X have done so well on tour, truly outstanding balls. The X is my favorite ball of all time, it’s long and I can zip it around the greens. The only thing I don’t love is the ability to bend it too much off the tee. I think the Top Flite Freak back a few years back was purely longer, but no where near as good all around.

I'm in the mid-speed category also. I caught a Black Friday deal at Dick's and got the Maxfli Tours and Tour X's. Both balls are great for me. I've been playing the Maxfli Tour X's more due to a bit more spin around the greens. The Tour is what I started with and is just as good with a little less greenside spin.

I finally got around to watching that video. A bit disappointed to learn the big 31 yards difference was between the Pro V1 Left Dash and something called Inessis or some such. Would have liked to know the PV1 vs at least a name brand ball. # yards between #1 and #5 is more inline with what I'd expect.
Only 2 yards difference between #1 and #5 in the mid speed range. I wish they'd show the last ball and how short it is.
I see they're consistent, the last test I saw the Pro V1x was the longest ball for all categories, which was probably surprising to many, but fit my own experience. I get more distance with the Pro v1x or TM TP5x for some reason than other urethane balls even though they wouldn't be recommended for my SS.
I really wish they'd test non urethane balls though. That's probably thye biggest market in golf balls and they always ignore it.

Agreed. MGS comes off some what as elitist. They did do Pinnacle Practice balls and they scored well for distance as well as most but QA was poor of course.
Of all the balls on the MGS list the Srixon Soft Feel non matte version is the best that is 2 piece and affordable low $20/doz range.
May not be legal, but the MG Senior is the longest ball in golf…….
JeffTilley I'll take that bet!! Not even close.
Wait...I already won that bet. 2 different times, I won that bet.
JeffTilley MG Senior is the longest ball in golf
Maybe not.....but it is my scramble ball off the tee, well, that and the Pinnacle Rush or such.
It has great initial velocity and, on a well know course, I can count on it to be longer. It may be
swing speed dependent somewhat though.
Let me rephrase that-the MG Senior is the longest ball in golf…….for me.
