garyt1957 Because they know they'll go play in the US if they don't listen. Competition is a good thing.

or they leave the US and play in the LIV...
This is my point.

Eguller Did I just hear a gigantic THUD ? 🙄

I have zero interest in the LIV sideshow. Only interest is in the PGA vs LIV fallout. The sellout guys are now on my Rick Astley/KC & The Sunshine Band list.

I have a slightly different named list for them. I loved the fit & quality of G.Norman shirts/shorts and
now I feel like burning them - but there is a burn ban in our township. 🤬

like heard on the radio that they have seven major champions and five Masters champs on their tour now.
Not much of a golf historian, so I'm not sure who they all are, but as for Master's champs they have Schwartzel, Reed, Philly Mick.... who else? Did Oostie win once? I didn't think so, but he blitzed the Open once. DJ?

Johnson (2020) and Garcia (2017) are the other two. Oosthuizen won the Open in 2010 (he did come close in the Masters in 2012 - lost to Bubba Watson in a playoff after making 2 at the par-5 second in the final round).

Disappointing to hear Gary Players comments. Especially being a native of a country that practiced apartheid for years. His whataboutisms are even ridiculous citing individual atrocities instead of state sponsored atrocities. The back flips these apologists make are amazing.

Last place guy apparently shot 24 over, made $140,000.
I mean, this right here is the bottom line. Shoot 16 over the first two rounds on the PGA tour, get bupkus, pay for your hotel and your transportation yourself, and schlep your stuff to the next location and hope to play better.

I understand what you saying. To be fair the LIV should be compared to the limited field no cut events associated with the PGA Tour. Only 48 players teed it up.

Maybe the PGA Tour could compromise and determine the average travel expenses per player per tournament and pay that amount out to those who make the field but miss the cut.

And that is why the cream comes to the top in pro golf. Play your way in or trunk slams and keep trying.
LIV golf - you're trying to beat the same guys in 8 events. Snooooooze.

But.....the can spend more time with their FAMILIES.....!!! 🤣 🤣

Might not be good for golf, but definitely appears to have been a smart decision for Ogletree in the short run. 2 years as a pro - $38k. 1 week in LIV - $120k. By the end of this year he could buy a nice house for cash and land a job as a club pro. There are worse ways to re-start a career.

Since LIV players aren’t accruing points to qualify for Ryder Cup/President’s Cup … could the captain use one of his “captain’s picks” to select an LIV player?

Stu1961 I don't see why not.....or choose one as a vice Capt.....unlikely as it may be.

That's what I posted earlier, would love to see whoever the Capt is pick DJ just to watch all the heads explode. I don't see why they couldn't do it, but I'm pretty sure it won't happen

I can't find anything definitive for the 2023 team selection criteria, but the rules for previous Ryder Cups have 'must be a member of the PGA/European Tour' as one of the conditions to be met for a player to be selected.

MartinD anything definitive for the 2023 team selection criteria

So far, (for the Euros) all I have read is that joining LIV puts their Ryder Cup "eligibility in jeopardy" but nothing more.
I think the US eligibility will be more "complicated"
                Just a guess.
