Par4QC I agree it would be a bad look for the Masters to cut out past winners just because they went to Liv. They could have retired and still played. Jack and Arnie weren't actively playing any tours and they were playing in the Masters.

The majors can do as they wish, but I'm not going to watch if Cameron Smith is healthy and not invited to play. Doubt they'll miss me, but I won't miss them much either.

Counterpoint.... What does the most lucrative major pay ? Not $4M like the 1st LIV paid and you have to
play your ass off against strong fields - too much work. Endorsements ? Too hot to handle now....
Take the $$$$ and go have fun.

Last I read is that LIV has 12 that 'were' in the top 50. Out of 48 players. And they have won A LOT of those 'strong field' Majors!
🤔 And no Amateurs to weaken the fields.
Not 'just anyone' can play LIV. No special exemptions.

Eguller Before LIV, the Majors also gave the winner a 5 yr exemption on PGA Tour, doesn't take much for their game to drop, and a 5-year free pass is handy.

38 of the top 50 are non LIV players. Not everyone gets in the Majors and almost everyone wants to play
in them, well.....with a couple of exceptions like the late Bruce L.. 😉

Let's be honest....the 12 and the 38 all got their ranking from watered down fields. And from limited fields, sometimes. Both which is BS. I'll not mention the sometimes 'revolving' changes in the OWGR for qualifications. Gonna have them?....set them in stone. Forever.

Was Jack ever ranked #1? No. Did he need it? Not on your life! 😉

Par4QC Golf Rankings didn't start until 1986, so it was kind of after Nicklaus career. Also I believe he never won the Verdon, not that his scores weren't good enough, he didn't play enough rounds.

I think the rankings might be in for an overhaul in the next 5 years. jmo

Bullshit. It's good for BOTH sides, not "ripping golf apart". Competition is good, keeps both sides on their A game. LIV got the PGA Tour to wake the fuck up and some people are enjoying watching both tours. Just shut up, Rory.
