Regarding Eli Manning and his chances of being elected to the Hall of Fame - how does his career stack up against other potential candidates from the same era?
There are several QBs who will be seen (almost) universally as being better players - Brady, Peyton Manning, Brees, Rodgers.
There are several more QBs where there's at least a discussion to be had, but many (or at least some) would put Eli behind (particularly if looking at the career as a whole, not just Super Bowl wins) - Roethlisberger, Stafford, Rivers, Ryan, Russell Wilson.
To me, it's hard to make an argument for a QB who was mostly a bit above average with the odd streak of exceptional play over someone who was consistently excellent for a long period of time (and yes, that does mean that I'd have Rivers and maybe Ryan ahead of Eli if the question is 'does this player deserve to be in the Hall of Fame?')
