Par4QC - Tour Soft replaced the NXT line and they'll receive an audition when I start looking for my next fave.

I have resisted the old temptation of playing what I find or grabbing a few different balls off the shelf the past few months just to bench the NXT Tours for a few rounds and try a new brand/model. And it has improved my up and down percentages a lot because mentally, I'm not doing gymnastics in my mind trying to anticipate the characteristics of that specific ball at impact and/or when it lands on the surface of the green.

What happened to the Acushnet Club Special? I used to love that ball 😉

Still using Snell MTB-X yellow. Last year it beat out my favorite of many years, Srixon Z Star.

I tried a dozen this year based on the MGS test saying it's the longest ball out there. Just doesn't seem that way for me. I haven't actually done any ball to ball comparisons but it just doesn't seem to even be as long as other balls to me, let alone longer. But i do get more distance from the other X balls, Pro v and TP5

I found the Snell MTB-X as long as anything out there with lower spin off the modern driver and would still play them but need a softer lower compression ball to use with my persimmon woods.

As club head speed drops the difference in certain balls is not as appreciable and many with lower club head speed don't see the gains that higher club head speed golfers do. Hence why you see various opinions as to distance. I still found the Snell MTB-X a very low spin ball off a modern driver head. My short iron/wedge technique doesn't impart as much spin for a urethane cover to take advantage of.

I got a marked improvement in driver distance last summer and my buds even commented on it. Only 5 rounds in and my driver distance is down from last year and I am not getting that distance I gained with the Snells. Bad knees and stiff back does not help my driver swing. I am going to get my DTG 175 back out next week and see how that goes with the new balls.

Agreed and this is why the most important factor for a ball to be used by any of us geezer types say 70 and up is low driver spin keep it in the fairway, straighter hence my preferred ball is Srixon Soft Feel. 60 compression good low spin rates off driver might not be the longest ball out there but close to the longest and decent spin rates off short irons and wedges but not urethane. Most of us don't have great crispy compression with short irons and wedges so spin with urethane cover is not going to stop the ball. Height is what we can rely on to stop the ball.

mikeintopeka that is when you get a few geezers to try out different stretches, exercises, and shafts to see what can be done about that... Get a few younger than geezers to do the same things and see what happens. There can be a lot that can be done. Shit, advertise to those who are 30's-40's, show them that there are things that they should be doing to keep them playing well. I'd read that shit. I'd like to know what I can do to help me play better, and avoid injuries, or recover faster.

Start doing some leg swings. It’ll give you that explosive power you need for golf. What you’ll want to do in between your sets of leg swings; goblet squats or overhead shoulder presses. Things that aren’t cardio based like squats and presses are excellent for your golf game.

Did that for 11 years. Every Sunday where ever we had to travel, from April to late October. Was pretty good at if I say so myself. One of my last races was at High Point, at Mount Morris Pa. where I won the open B class on a 490 Maico. Weighed about 120 lbs. at that time.
