We tend to forget that he has been out there for 20+ years!
Tiger ! Tiger ! Tiger !
I believe this event benefits his charity, so essentially it's his tournament. Target sponsored it when it was held in California. Now it's Hero the India Motorcycle company. Not sure if it's a true invitational or if it goes by money list. What I'll be interested in is his short game. His swing speed is said to be back where it was, but if he still can't chip and putt he won't be able to compete with the top players. We shall see.
I always enjoyed watching him. He was the best player (IMHO) that I have ever seen. He brought a lot of excitement to the game and brought golf into the 21st century on a good trajectory.

The likes of Arnie and Jack were hoping that TW will carry the torch for the game to further illuminate it.
Of course they did not anticipate the social and general media have more tools to invade privacy these days.
I think golfers will forget and forgive if his game is back, close to where he left it.
Good grief.
Me too.

Well, I just checked and Tiger is -3 thru 10 holes for his 1st round and tied for 5th. He's trailing the leader, J.B. Holmes, by 3.
Watching a little bit online. Tiger does look like his swing is under control. Not seeing the head dip he had and he doesn't look like he is trying to murder the ball with every swing. He's rusty but he looks better than he did at the beginning of his last comeback.
I'm always game for another interesting storyline, especially at this time of year when the events typically mean very little and there's very little to discuss.
This is a very big IF, but IF Tiger could become competitive again - pro golf would certainly stand to gain. As much as I dread the thought of another era of Tiger 24/7, I'm not so far removed that I can't possibly appreciate the interesting dynamic from a potential historical standpoint.
But I reserve the right to be a pessimist until further evidence supports the need to be open-minded. You gotta win one before you can win two. And if you can't beat a field of 18, then obviously there's a lot of progress yet to be made.

Much more upright and easier swing.
Quite a few misses left today and 3 botched short shots, one chunk chip and two sand shots way by. His irons and putter have been pretty good though.
Anything around 1 shot either side of par is a good score for him . I was expecting a 2 over

1 over 73 is good especially with no gimmies like in yesterday's pro am , which was probably, more realistically a 74
Sits 17th out of 18 , so not the worst player in the field .
17th place out of 18 after day one.
Top 10 looks quite ambitious at this point.
18 player field.
18 arguably top PGA players, only a few missing from the top ranking in the world.
From looking at this field any player could have win any PGA event on a given day.
I still say top 10 would be a good come back after so many issues with health and head.
After eight holes he was four under and tied for the lead. Rate him A for those holes. The last ten holes he was five over par. Rate him F for those holes. Over all a C-. Thought his driver swing looked pretty good and smoother and more in control. His misses were all left with the driver so that was better than a left right miss all day. His iron play was very good except for one wayward shot. Short game was at best a C and his putting was perhaps a B. He did not have a great control on his speed. After not playing on tour for 16 months I thought he did fairly well. Let's see what happens the next three days. This was a pretty good start for him. Still a lot of work to do though.

gawddam....am I the only person that works around here, instead of sitting on my ass watching TV??
I just read the "TigerTracker" fella's (on TGC) hole by hole, shot by shot coverage. I'll bet he changed his pants a few times and used up several boxes of Kleenex. Sounded like a sticky mess for 18 holes!
Not too sure he isn't guitarplayer33.
From the sound of it, he will be going with a different driver setting tomorrow. This is the 1st adjustable driver he has ever tried, so I imagine he'll be doing some GBing with the stick tonight.(and I mean the driver)
