I've got a 28x26 basement with an additional 8x12 storage room/area. Got a 1 car garage. It is 'my domain' and I can use it all for whatever I desire. Wife has the whole upstairs, so she doesn't care what I do outside or downstairs. EXCEPT.....at Thanksgiving(rarely now) & Christmas(always), I must make everything disappear until Jan.. And disappear it all does! Or Hell comes acallin'.

Consider (after moving) perhaps putting up one of those storage sheds next to the garage. Doesn't need to have a concrete floor, use 4x4s and plywood. If zoning allows.

I built a 14' by 2' work bench along the back wall of my garage. We have a 3 car garage and it had a 2' step along the whole back wall. I probably have an 8' section of the bench dedicated to club building. I have at times had clubs lined up spanning at least 10'. If I think about it I will shoot a picture of it and post. It's a pretty nice set up for a cut and glue guy.

Previous homeowner built in a workbench in the basement in the middle room, it angles with the room....about 16x4 with three outlets....perfect, plus I have another 4x8 bench in the other room where I grip.

I have an 8 foot piece of formica countertop that was scrap I got from Home Depot or something. I screwed a 2x4x6 piece into the wall, put Gorilla glue along the top of it and set the formica on it. Took the remaining wood, cut it to length to make legs and stuck them underneath nice and snug. They are not even anchored to anything, the weight of the formica keeps them in place.

Above that I have an 8 foot shelf for my supplies. Next to the bench are spare bags etc... Space wise its like what Landon has. Great for a garage.

We live in a 120 year old house with an unfinished basement. One room - former coal storage is now storage for SWMBO, about 12 ft x 6 ft. Another, smaller room about 8 ft x 4 ft for utility room, electric box, furnace, hot water tank. Rest of basement is 20 ft by 20 ft. I have an "L" shaped bench - 10 ft long for re-loading along one wall and 10 ft long for golf club building along other wall. Third wall has 10 ft of work bench for actual work stuff and tools, etc.
Fourth wall has steps leading to kitchen and man door leading to one car garage - which is all storage, no vehicles. Guess I'm lucky...

While I was definitely going to have a storage shed for the lawn mower and other yard tools it honestly never occurred to me to use an outdoor storage shed for some of my bulkier club supplies. I definitely appreciate the suggestion.

Weather proof the outdoor storage shed. It'll save a lot of headache.

In a previous house I used an outdoor storage shed as workshop. Depending upon the zoning restrictions where you live you don't need a cement floor. Lowe's or any number of pre-fab/built structures are fine. Make sure it is weather proof and has a decent roof. You might want to add gutters. Also, you will need to install electric - NOT an extension cord connected to house, add a circuit to your existing house system and run underground through conduit. If you live in a Northern climate you will want to insulate and add a heat source - propane or kerosene - and make sure you have decent ventilation, an open window or actually vent the heat source through roof. Good luck and have fun...just my .02 worth...

I just assembled a 12' x 8' shed from a kit earlier this summer, and it WOULD make a nice workshop. Living in Northern Ohio, I would need to insulate and heat it, but it does have plenty of room. My actual workshop is in a separate room in my basement, about 12 x 12. I have two ten foot workbenches that I joined together in one
corner to make an L shaped bench. The room would provide plenty of space if it weren't for all the old clubs, shafts,
etc that I have stored in a few old tour bags (bought them at a club-swap for only a few bucks....make great club
storage, except I have way too many clubs now!)

My brother, while living in a mobile home, had one as his woodworking shop. Don't remember the exact size, but around 6x8, and it seemed roomy enough. He ran an extension cord from the house for power instead of doing any wiring.

We looked at a house last night and I am most likely going to put an offer in today. Garage was just over 550 sq ft which will allow me room for my workbench setup. I'll probably invest in an outdoor shed big enough to store some older bags and shafts to help keep the garage less congested. House is with walking distance of an inexpensive little city course with 27 holes, driving range, and a bowling alley haha.

I think Spuzz showed you exactly how little space you really need. I don't have a dedicated spot at the moment, it's on the winter to do list ( probably 6 winters from now) but I have storage totes with the basic supplies and then an old microwave cart I made into a temporary work bench one day, which still gets used as my bench haha. I can set up a club at a time in a vice or shaft puller and get it done. Ideal for mass production? No. Adequate for a shaft change and re grip? Oh yeah. I'm going to ask santa for one of the Home Depot special, Husky work bench/tool chest combos with adjustable height work bench. Mount a vice to the end of the bench, put all the crap in the drawers and call it good. For shaft storage a 4 inch PVC pipe with a flat cap will hold a lot of shafts in one spot and easily kept upright with a strap of your choice. If you are a real ho, get an 8 foot length and cut it in 3 pieces, now you have quite the set up. Also the concrete tube forms work well.
