I've been looking for houses recently and due to my need for a workbench space it has limited the possibilities. The reason being is that my girlfriend prefers a ranch which a ranch with a basement in my area is difficult to find plus we would like to both park in the garage so finding a garage big enough can be difficult. But, back to the original question, approximately what dimension is your club building area at your house?
How Big is Your Club Building Area?
I built a shop in one part of my walk out basement that measures 16' x 22'.
But if you are limited in space,I think anything in the 100-150 sq.ft. range would be more than
enough for club building purposes.
Is your setup in a spare bedroom? If so, how does that work out with the mess, noise, and clean up?
That's my garage. 2 car and we park outside. Enough room for her's if need be. I've never felt the need to park inside. She does every once in a great while.
Much smaller than yours LBlack14.
Only a corner of the garage. I don;t need a lot of space to do the basic stuff.
I'm thinking I may have to have a compact area on my side in my garage that I have to pull my car out in order to do any work. Doable, but I dream of the day when my budget allows me to have an entire building dedicated to a workshop/indoor simulator...may need to start playing the lotto.
That is more compact than my area, plus my wife would never allow anything golf in the bedroom.
When I was doing club making/fitting/repair, I had a 16x16 shop. I think you can get by with a little smaller space, depending on what you plan on doing. Space optimization is the key, in my opinion.

I have a room in my basement here in VA that is about 12 X 14. I share it with the air handler and hot water heater, but the rest is mine. Workbench runs along one wall and a drying table/club racks on the other. In FL, I have a workbench in one corner of a 400 sq ft garage.
Do you still get 2 cars parked in that 400 sq ft garage along with the workbench?

Actually we can fit both cars and our golf cart in there........barely . The 2nd car is a Mini Cooper so the golf cart fits behind it. When all 3 vehicles are in the garage I can't even get to my workbench so I have to park one in the driveway to do clubwork, but yes, it all fits.

I've got a 28x26 basement with an additional 8x12 storage room/area. Got a 1 car garage. It is 'my domain' and I can use it all for whatever I desire. Wife has the whole upstairs, so she doesn't care what I do outside or downstairs. EXCEPT.....at Thanksgiving(rarely now) & Christmas(always), I must make everything disappear until Jan.. And disappear it all does! Or Hell comes acallin'.
Consider (after moving) perhaps putting up one of those storage sheds next to the garage. Doesn't need to have a concrete floor, use 4x4s and plywood. If zoning allows.
I built a 14' by 2' work bench along the back wall of my garage. We have a 3 car garage and it had a 2' step along the whole back wall. I probably have an 8' section of the bench dedicated to club building. I have at times had clubs lined up spanning at least 10'. If I think about it I will shoot a picture of it and post. It's a pretty nice set up for a cut and glue guy.
Previous homeowner built in a workbench in the basement in the middle room, it angles with the room....about 16x4 with three outlets....perfect, plus I have another 4x8 bench in the other room where I grip.
I have an 8 foot piece of formica countertop that was scrap I got from Home Depot or something. I screwed a 2x4x6 piece into the wall, put Gorilla glue along the top of it and set the formica on it. Took the remaining wood, cut it to length to make legs and stuck them underneath nice and snug. They are not even anchored to anything, the weight of the formica keeps them in place.
Above that I have an 8 foot shelf for my supplies. Next to the bench are spare bags etc... Space wise its like what Landon has. Great for a garage.
This is current/tonight. The bench is 10'L x 37"h x 30"w
We live in a 120 year old house with an unfinished basement. One room - former coal storage is now storage for SWMBO, about 12 ft x 6 ft. Another, smaller room about 8 ft x 4 ft for utility room, electric box, furnace, hot water tank. Rest of basement is 20 ft by 20 ft. I have an "L" shaped bench - 10 ft long for re-loading along one wall and 10 ft long for golf club building along other wall. Third wall has 10 ft of work bench for actual work stuff and tools, etc.
Fourth wall has steps leading to kitchen and man door leading to one car garage - which is all storage, no vehicles. Guess I'm lucky...
While I was definitely going to have a storage shed for the lawn mower and other yard tools it honestly never occurred to me to use an outdoor storage shed for some of my bulkier club supplies. I definitely appreciate the suggestion.
