PA-PLAYA

Going to be ~ 63 degrees when we tee off in the first group tomorrow morning ~ 7:22 am (sunrise is 7:21). Reaching a high of ~ 75 degrees for a high.

PA-PLAYA
Can't stand the weather in CT. Although, not deluged with snow yet it has been chilly and wet a lot so far.

Still sucks in Massachusetts. Christmas Cookout was the only plus.

    Typhoon

28° F here today, tried to cook with propane in the back yard, the damn thing would not ignite. Had to shake the propane container before I could light it up.

      Release
I can get it to light at that temp, never thought to shake it, but it takes forever to cook a burger or dog. Forget steak.

PA-PLAYA we did our time in the cooler climate

Spent 21 yrs in Lowell , IN working on the South side in Chicago Hts. Raised our two kids there. Good for us to finally find our way back to Dixie land. Won't be long and we'll be smelling honeysuckle and magnolias again, Golf courses are always available in all 12 months
Come back to visit God's country anytime

Cover the food while cooking at below freezing to retain the heat better. Throw a aluminium pie dish on the steak ( fork a few holes on the bottom of the dish ), drop some liquefied butter on the steak before covering it up, steam will also help.

            Provisional

I've got roughly 10 more winters to manage in the Northeast before momma officially retires. We WILL NOT be spending January 1st through April 1st in the Northeast once that time finally comes.

Don't want another mortgage... our house will be paid off within the next couple of months and I can't possibly begin to tell you how excited we are to realize this. April through December here in the Lehigh Valley is very manageable. A few weeks of uncomfortable heat and humidity in the summer months, but certainly not on the same level as down south where it's a much more prolonged deal.

But we're looking forward to spending time elsewhere during the winter months when the time comes. Be it down south, perhaps SC, FL, AL, or perhaps out in Arizona... we figure that we can rent a place for those 3-4 months and get a taste of everything we've always dreamed of as far as travel and warmer, more enjoyable winters. I just need to get the wife golf-ready between now and then. I think she'd enjoy golf... Got some friends who live very close to Birmingham, would love to reconnect with them on a regular basis.

That's the nice thing about having no real debt and being in a position to travel for 3-4 months. I reckon I'll be visiting the good ol' south again several times over, and being a southern boy - it'll be a long time coming. 🙂

My golf is done for at least a couple of weeks. We got close to a foot of snow yesterday and last night. We live in a cul de sac and there is a hill to go up to get on the main drag. So far this morning people are having trouble getting up the hill. One of the guys I play with has lived here most of his live and he can't remember getting this much snow over a 24 hour period. The next two days the overnight lows are in the low teens. Starting Saturday we will be getting rain for the next 8-10 days. Temps in the low 40's so we may get rid of the snow in two weeks, but the courses are going to be a quagmire probably for the rest of the month. Very unusually we have been here for 12 years and the most we have been not been able to play is 3 or 4 days. Yuck.

            Typhoon

BTU is what counts cooking in the colder temperature, and of course a way to retain the heat by covering up while cooking to prevent heat lost.
Good luck on your grilling experiment in the below freezing temperature

The rare potential for light snowfall tomorrow here in north MS. No highs above the 40's predicted for the next few days.

Today, upper teens/low 20's and 2-4 inches of fresh powder on the ground.

One thing about the cold temperature, any smell will be magnified and travel far.
On our way home, we pass this highway inter-change area, while slowing down to 5 MPH we could smell reefer in our car with windows shut tight. wife really did not like it , and I could tell this is a smelly potent bud,

No buildings near by so , not sure if some homeless cooking it up under the freeway or someone been lighting up in their car. Around 37° when we pass that junction.

Wednesday afternoon we were nearing 50º here in the Lehigh Valley. By Wednesday night, temps had dropped 20 degrees and winds were howling.

Cold front moving through this evening, a little snow predicted south of where I live. Would be surprised if it develops into anything more than a couple inches. 15 miles north, where I live, we probably won't see much (if any) accumulation.

And that suits me just fine.

Heading up to the club tomorrow to use our indoor simulator with a couple buddies. We reserved it for two hours. I'm bringing some snacks and a few beers, we'll have golf channel on in the background. Looking forward to just getting out of the house more than anything else.

The club's simulator ain't anything high speed or elaborate, it's an older model. But the setup is nice, nice enough to at least whack some balls into someone's back yard at Pebble Beach anyway.

F'in cold, bone chilling cold. Been windy as a mofo in NE wisc. Chills well below 0.

Low 20s last 2 mornings in Dallas. What a difference a few days makes. Played golf on Saturday with temps hitting a high of 70.

PA-PLAYA The Sim gave me two rounds at St Andrews ; even parr on 18th! @Putterheads in Pinehurst

Would have liked to use the sim more but they went bust and weather was too nice to play inside much
It'd be nice to have access to one today though , Same crap weather in southern MS today 30s rain maybe ice mix later but got a nice fire in fireplace

Down to 40% in propane tank, hopefully can get through winter with only two tanks. Back in Indiana we'd use up 1000 gal tank in a bad month . Sure do miss that...not.

Spent the week in Minneapolis where it was a balmy -9 when I left for the airport this morning. Currently sitting in Denver terminal for connection home where we were told it something like -4 or +4 here. I can't remember. Freezing ass cold. Should be in the 40's when I get home to Lake Arrowhead today. A veritable heatwave.
