Wednesday afternoon we were nearing 50ยบ here in the Lehigh Valley. By Wednesday night, temps had dropped 20 degrees and winds were howling.

Cold front moving through this evening, a little snow predicted south of where I live. Would be surprised if it develops into anything more than a couple inches. 15 miles north, where I live, we probably won't see much (if any) accumulation.

And that suits me just fine.

Heading up to the club tomorrow to use our indoor simulator with a couple buddies. We reserved it for two hours. I'm bringing some snacks and a few beers, we'll have golf channel on in the background. Looking forward to just getting out of the house more than anything else.

The club's simulator ain't anything high speed or elaborate, it's an older model. But the setup is nice, nice enough to at least whack some balls into someone's back yard at Pebble Beach anyway.

F'in cold, bone chilling cold. Been windy as a mofo in NE wisc. Chills well below 0.

Low 20s last 2 mornings in Dallas. What a difference a few days makes. Played golf on Saturday with temps hitting a high of 70.

PA-PLAYA The Sim gave me two rounds at St Andrews ; even parr on 18th! @Putterheads in Pinehurst

Would have liked to use the sim more but they went bust and weather was too nice to play inside much
It'd be nice to have access to one today though , Same crap weather in southern MS today 30s rain maybe ice mix later but got a nice fire in fireplace

Down to 40% in propane tank, hopefully can get through winter with only two tanks. Back in Indiana we'd use up 1000 gal tank in a bad month . Sure do miss that...not.

Spent the week in Minneapolis where it was a balmy -9 when I left for the airport this morning. Currently sitting in Denver terminal for connection home where we were told it something like -4 or +4 here. I can't remember. Freezing ass cold. Should be in the 40's when I get home to Lake Arrowhead today. A veritable heatwave.

One of my buds called me yesterday, the family just came back from Australia.
It's like from the mid Summer dropped back to frozen tundra. We have below freezing temperatures here for more than a week now. Very unusual for the region. Wind chill factor in the teens.
Sunny and 27ยฐ F right now. Forecasting Winter weather mix for tomorrow's football game ( snow and possibility wet snow ) . I'm glade I don't have any tickets at more than $300 a pop. Nice and comfy in the family room and I could get any drink or snack I wish anytime. No freezing !

It's a heat wave here in SE SD, sitting at 6 degrees (which is 7 degrees warmer than yesterday). Tomorrow morning I will wake up to -3 degrees. And yes, plenty of snow and wind.

      Hattiesburg MS Report Saturday AM
      24 last night
      high today at noon 30
it's sunny with 15 mph nw wind
      not too bad at all.
      Horse trough water frozen
Thought I moved far enough south for water to be a liquid like it's supposed to be

Citrus County Florida is getting a freeze tonight. One and done, I hope.

      Provisional

The bad part about me using the simulator is that I take a pretty good size divot. So I really have to concentrate on a shallower angle of approach into the ball, which judging by the slight pain in my right elbow today wasn't nearly shallow enough. lol

I hit 30 or so balls, we had it on driving range mode because it's kinda pointless to try to get any type of real golf simulation from such a basic setup. It's kinda interesting to hit what felt for sure like a smother hook and then look at the wicked slice that just played out on the projector screen! ๐Ÿ˜

Not a fan of propane heat... although it's efficient, it tends to get expensive when we have extremely cold winters. My 500 gallon tank has already been filled twice in the past two months, but there have been times over recent winters when it's already been filled 3-4 times in that same period.

I try to keep our thermostat set on 69, but momma throws that all out of whack no sooner than she gets home from work. She enjoys meat-falling-off-bone temps year round, which really makes it impossible for me to tolerate sometimes, but she's the breadwinner. What momma wants, momma gets. ๐Ÿ˜‰

The Indians on a remote reservation in North Dakota asked their new chief if the coming winter was going to be cold or mild.
Since he was a chief in a modern society, he had never been taught the old secrets. When he looked at the sky, he couldn't tell what the winter was going to be like.
Nevertheless, to be on the safe side, he told his tribe that the winter was indeed going to be cold and that the members of the village should collect firewood to be prepared.
But, being a practical leader, after several days, he got an idea. He went to the phone booth, called the National Weather Service and asked, 'Is the coming winter going to be cold?'
'It looks like this winter is going to be quite cold,' the meteorologist at the weather service responded.
So the chief went back to his people and told them to collect even more firewood in order to be prepared.
A week later, he called the National Weather Service again. 'Does it still look like it is going to be a very cold winter?'
'Yes,' the man at National Weather Service again replied, 'it's going to be a very cold winter.'
The chief again went back to his people and ordered them to collect every scrap of firewood they could find.
Two weeks later, the chief called the National Weather Service again. 'Are you absolutely sure that the winter is going to be very cold?'
'Absolutely,' the man replied. 'It's looking more and more like it is going to be one of the coldest winters we've ever seen.'
'How can you be so sure?' the chief asked.
The weatherman replied, 'The Indians are collecting a shitload of firewood'

Houston, Texas (east of Houston to be precise)

          38 and sunny. Beautiful day

It reached a Balmy 13* here today in NE Indiana. ๐Ÿ˜‰

PA-PLAYA Not fan of propane either
Our furnace is circla 1980 and blower sounds like F14 spooling up when kicking on, which seemed like every 5 minutes last night even setting nightime to 64
Wifey slightly cranky now , uho oh
If can figure way to budget it, new heat pump this year would be wonderful
          We're up to 39
          mostly cloudy but not complaining
Gotta find a load of fire wood, down to last wheel barrow load last night
At least I will not have to cut grass until next month

            Provisional

Won't be cutting grass at least for 1 more year. I pay the neighbor's kid $25/week, and throw him a few additional bucks here and there to keep him motivated. I'm sure his parents aren't looking forward to him heading off to college, but not as much as me! lol

PS - the thermostat (just checked) is set to 73ยบ. I'm hyperventilating, wearing a pair of shorts and a tee shirt. She (SWMBO) is doing her best to sweat the excess fat out of me. Or perhaps trying to kill me.

That scenario is 50/50. I have a slight edge, primarily because I keep the house clean and cook dinner.... she hates cooking, luckily for me. Doesn't know how to operate the vacuum cleaner. I like my odds.
            .

Last Tuesday we had just under a foot of snow. It was the wet heavy kind that we used to love because it was good packing for snowballs. We had the next two days in the low 30's and since then we have had rain every day.and temps in the 40's. got out for the first time since the heavy snow and went to look at the golf course. It was still under snow and the ponds that I could see were full and starting to overflow. Even when the snow is all gone the melt will cause flooding on the course and perhaps some of the creeks on the course and around our house as well. No golf for at least another week. Very unusual for this area. They say it has been 50 years since they have had this much snow. I hope it is another 50 before the next heavy snow.

Been a bit wet and cold in SC the last week or so with light snow up in the mountains on Saturday but rain in the midlands and along the coast.
