Just recently got P770 5-P, but haven't taken them on the course yet. Got them right before a big 2 day tourney and I decided to stick with the old set since I had barely hit the new ones. So far just a few range sessions, but they seem a bit more forgiving than my old set while still being a similar size. I was really surprised that I liked the DG 105 shafts so much. I have always hated DG and my old set has Recoil 110 graphite.
TM P770/790 irons
Maugust789 I NEED a NEW PUTTER...
Naturally.
lol
I get it! My DRIVER, HYBRID, IRONS and WEDGES were all working on the same day but my putter failed me...it's going in TIME OUT!
Spuzz I need one too, damn it!!!!!

I was using DG s300's and the difference with DG 105's is amazing. Lighter, more responsive and yet very stable. I was worried about scattering the ball all over the place.

logicalone LET'S ALL BUY A SCOTTY!!!!
I just find another in the closet or swing by Goodwill AGAIN
Maugust789 I have found quite a bit of fortune at Goodwill & Salvation Army, but yet to find the Holy Grail of putters.
No Scott’s for me! I’m gonna buy a logicalOne putter when they come out
Maugust789 I finally used my P770's in our league and they worked well. The 5i and 6i feel like they may need some weight, but these things are smooth. It was a bit windy and I think the DG105 work better than the Recoil 110. Seemed like the flight was never ballooning and I didn't get any of the larger than expected draws the old irons would surprise me with.

Good news. I'm the same way no "in the woods on the left" for me and distance loss on mishits is minimal which I'm not accustomed to. I think they call that forgiveness...
How do like the feel?
I came from full forged irons and it is a noticeable difference to me. It is still a good powerful feel just not the soft buttery feel of full forged. I can still tell where the ball is headed at impact but maybe not exactly where I hit it on the face.
I mark my balls with a big blue Sharpie dot so I have evidence of contact(on par 3's) which is helping me understand set up and impact point.

That's funny because I came from forged as well, Apex Pro, and I think these feel really nice. Mostly the 8-P though. The 5-7 with the slots feel nice, but also bit odd. The 8-P feel really pure, but the 5-7 have more of a 2-piece feel which is not bad, but just not as smooth.

I agree, they do have a great feel just different. When I was fitted I thought the topline was too thick but I got used to the look pretty quickly. I came from Wilson Fi5's (2006) and Wilson FGV2 (2011). I'm thinking of re-shafting the
Fi5's with the DG105's for a back up set.

A great round today. Net 67. Irons did exactly what they were supposed to do. They kept me in play. Different putter from the closet this week helped. The old trusty TM SLDR driver was on fire most of the day.
I’ve been starting to look at those irons myself as my next set. Reading a lot of reviews. The 790's look fine to me size and top line. Picking up a set of the 2017 ones would save me some $$ too. Thinking some about a combo set but matching the 770 lofts the p790 lofts. They just look and perform so similar maybe forgiveness is the deciding factor.

The combo sets should be adjusted for loft. TM has a chart that shows how to make the adjustments for combining the 700 series. For example I got the 790 4 and 5 irons and the fitter adjusted them to 770 loft
They blend well and I picked up the height I needed on the 4 and 5

Follow up after 9 rounds with the new irons. Overall very happy with the P770/790 combo.
Due to some decent driving and fewer 3 putts I've matched or beat my handicap in 4 of the 9 rounds.
Three of the 10 rounds were absolute rubbish on fantastic courses that ate my lunch in 95* temps with 95 to 100% humidity.
Handicap has dropped 1.6 strokes since the beginning of May when I got them!
