Yes, but am I moving the heavier mass at the same speed as the 50g shaft? šŸ¤”

Ok, do you remember me talking about ā€œmuscle activationā€? You guys might think you don’t have any muscle but you do… you keep active, you work on your shop, Steve is out doing yard work at the church etc…

So what happens is when you have a heavier shaft /club, your brain has your bigger muscles take over… because you’ve been active your whole life and you still do physical work. You end up swinging it faster. If the club is too light, your brain doesn’t tell your larger, more powerful muscles to engage… and you don’t swing as hard.

The only reason I know this is I started researching it when I saw my numbers ( Sarnella is listening!) and consistency get
better with a heavier iron shaft. I’m slower with a 105 gram shaft than I am with a 115. With an 86 gram shaft I was all over the place and no faster than with the 115 too.

    Typhoon Good take!

I also have no problem when going from a 54g. to a 68g. shaft. And at 47", it really ups the swing weight.

And speaking of physical work.....my pecs are killing me from all this damn work I've been doing the past couple weeks! I'll prolly need XXL shirts this Spring. With ripped sleeves. šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£

Par4QC Apparently you didn't. Momentum equals mass times the square of the velocity.

Ynotgolf I ditched mine and bought a bunch and here is what my results were.
      Winner Loser
Ping G410 plus. Ping g400 max
Pxg gen 5. Ping g400 max
      Ping g400 max. Pxg 0211
Sim 2 max beat them all.
Pxg 0211 straight shooter similar to the max but gets beaten on distance. The right shaft in a g400 max could possibly be top dog or just get lucky. Counter balanced shafts make that heavy head feel comfortable. When I switched out to a tour 65 it felt super heavy to me. The stock Alta in my g410 feels much more stable than the stock Alta I had in the max.

Makes sense. I had same success today with it. Club feels a little heavy, but I'm getting"through" the ball with it.

I put the Alta CB R flex PING shaft back in the G400 SFT head for today's round. Other than feel, I cannot tell a difference in performance.

        azgreg I'm putting them in a TM R580 driver, TM V-Steel 5w, and a Nickent 3DX 4h.

Please share your reviews. You going to have to shim the TM driver and 5W? I think those are .350

          sdandrea1 No clue, no guess.

2 things I've found in using them....
Driver shafts- color makes a diff..... yes, believe it or not. White or Neon are the best 2. The best was the black/silver which they no longer carry, for some strange reason. I say this about the colors even though the stated weights are very accurate in the 67-68g. range; never had any outside that. Maybe a rare 69g. 1 time.

Iron shafts did not perform (for me) as I wanted. Seem to be too stiff (tip) per flex, even at A. Never dropped to L, so no clue how that plays.

Great shafts though, after all these years, and still basically the same $10. Gotta like the weight though, to want them.šŸ˜‰
