DonM My wife has a knee that is bone on bone. She is on Medicare, and apparently to follow their protocols, the first thing is to try a cortisone shot.
Cortisone is bad, but the knee is bad to begin with, so. But, it won't help much, just kill the pain for a spell. Much better to get what my wife's doctor called a 'chicken injection'....hyaluronic acid. It coats the bone and creates less friction, thus much less pain. It can only be done every 6 months, but lasts quite a while, and works. My wife has had both knees done, so she's well versed in the pain/treatment of bone on bone.
