Shot 91 in the North Texas Senior Golf League, which was good enough for 1st in my flight. It was a volatile round even for me, with 8 pars and 4 triple bogeys.

We played Tour 18, a course a lot of the members had never played before. Many of the greens are tricky, with some severe slopes, so the field got beat up. šŸ™‚

I got to play 9 today. I didn't bother keeping score. I also borrowed a buddy's clubs, as mine were at home for the last week. I played the forward tees, I was making good contact for not playing in a week, and new clubs. On the 1st hole, I flew the green with an 8 iron and ended up in #2 fairway. Hole 3, I flew the green again with the 8 iron. Hole 4, I hit the green with a 7, I first tried an easy 6 iron that punched through the breeze and promptly went ob. It seemed like whatever club I pulled, it was going further than I was used to. I tried his 4 iron, and for some reason I topped the 2 balls I tried. I pulled his 5 iron and was just off the green with a low fade on hole 6 from 200. On 8, I hit a 54Ā° and hit the green just passed the hole. I dropped a 2nd ball to see if I could do any better. Same club, same green, 2nd ball flew the green. I played both, 3 putted for bogey on the 1st ball, 2nd ball was a chip onto the green, leaving a 10' downhill putt. I made the downhill putt for par.
I had some good shots, some bad shots, enjoyed the quick solo round. I need to get done with this project so I can go play more often. I miss playing, and it's only been a week.

Typhoon I didn't pay much attention, so I know they are steel shafts, Bridgestone forged heads. Kinda like a muscle back, with a small cavity.

40 degrees and a 20-25mph wind made for some distance loss. Into the wind needed 2-3 clubs more. Even downwind ball was not travelling , just normal distance. Definitely felt like Fall golf.

42/42 and we were done in 3 hrs.

Instead of starting a new thread, I'll just ask here.

For those in the know, how many rounds does your course get per season?

I ask because I just got an email from 1 of the better courses in the area, about an open house, their closing(not soonšŸ™‚), and they mentioned an award (swag bag of Pro shop goodies) they give out every year.....Mr. 40,000. 10/27 they marked that date as the 40,000th round of the year, which began 2/22.
Seems like a ton of rounds, but it is always fairly full when we've played there, no matter the time or day of week.
Very nice course, fastest greens in the Midwest, perhaps.

Plus, living here and knowing how many courses there are and having played several every season, this is mind boggling to think all courses are doing this much business. I'm lucky as they are all within a 15 minute drive for me.

Last round of the season. Weather changing rapidly the next couple days and should be bringing some flakes. Courses in this area just flat close til weather allows in Spring, or before like last Feb.. 1 will have 8-18 open but FW greens.

Wasn't going to play until I saw weather reports, and decided this was the 'old school' day.
55* when done, but very little wind. Still really cool though and this course does not have windshields on carts. Got a bit wet with the drizzling, everything was playing soft from previous 3" of rain last week.

May be the most fun round I've played. Ever. And these 'tools' are why......all are 20-24 yrs. old, with 1 16 yr. old exception. The balls...well, just look at themšŸ¤£. No using any GPS and hardly looked at any markers/sprinklers.

      Launcher 400 has a Grafalloy Prolite 45
SMT has a Harrison Striper J
(Driver battle will have to go to SMT today.)
Didn't realize the Launcher 3wd was only 13*, but was a beast.
      Did have 2 Snake Eyes hybrids, 22 & 28.
Nike CPR 21, and played like an 18 compared to the SN 22.

Irons are a TM Firesole clone that I've had for over 20 yrs., and still hit very well. (Precision shafts to keep 'old school')

Found a 64* Dunlop True Tech wedge I had never hit. I did very well, btw, which was amusing when it went only 12 yds., full swing & 40 yds. up.

Karma grips on all, except putter that has Winn.

Putter is an Austad's brass that I found for $1 22 years ago at Salvation Army. (I did have to regrip it) It does as well as any. At least for me. Had several 1 putts but did not keep track of any stats today. Also hit quite a few GIRs, now that I think about it. Missed very few FWs, maybe 2 or 3, and only a couple feet off.

      Those ballsšŸ¤£omg.

      Dunlop Loco, Crazy Long/Scary Long.
      Spalding Molitor, Super Crazy Long.
Spalding, plain ol', w/no special name.
Prostaff, which I did forget to hit.

Could not have been more surprised. They played no differently now as they did 20 yrs. ago. (none exploded, btw). Between the driver, the ball and the weather, they of course were not as long as anything today. But no squirrelly shots. Not really that much distance lost, esp. from the FW clubs.

Started just before noon, finished/in car at 2 sharp....'hurry up' golf(rain was coming quickly)!!

      39/38.....77šŸ˜²

Par4QC Last round of the season.

I'd never live in a place where I couldn't tee it up all year long, but that's just me!

Cannot report a score my home course pulled the pins and cups and filled em with sand. Darndest thing putting at a sand filled hole with no flag, I center sanded more putts in the last week than any other week I can remember. It freed me up a bit that is for surešŸ™ƒ

Hadnā€™t played for a few weeks. Planned on being done but a member asked me to play 9 with him today because it was nice out. Very lacklusterā€¦ no focus.

Typhoon Loser, time to retire to Geezer status. Try left-handed and wear slippers. What i do when in a slump like you are now. Jus sayinšŸ˜Ž

Typhoon Ok, try morning sex then play ready golf with a couple 36 handicappers (player at your place)

Took my sister and SWMBO out today to Pendleton Golf Club. Sister's 76th birthday. Nice 18 hole round in 72 degree temps in November! SWMBO'S first outing with the new knee and she's killing it. A little rust around the greens but good ball striking day for her.

                45/40 for me. Ok round.

I shot 40-35-75 at ā€œhistoric Ottawa Parkā€ golf course in Toledo, Ohio today. Started out in cool, misty weather,
but finished in bright sunshine and breezy. This could be our last round of the season, as the forecasts are
for cold weather for the next week or so, so we were all glad that we managed to get the round in today. One birdie,
                10 GIR, and 32 putts.

I got out for 9 holes walking at an executive course in Portsmouth, VA. Six par 3s and three par 4s, the longest of which reads 292 on the scorecard.

Thought I had an ace on the first hole. PW shot hit the flag on the fly, near the bottom of the flag. Didn't see the ball bounce off. Had a prior 'slam dunk' ace as a kid, so I thought just maybe lighting would strike twice. Ball was in a bunker behind the green. šŸ˜¢

On the 292-yard par four I busted a drive to 45 yards from the flagstick. I think the flag was really only 284 from the tee box, though, according to my laser. Still a good drive for me.

On the whole, the round was so-so. Only had two really good looks at birdie and missed them both. Hit some good shots but some iffy ones, too. Took me a good four or five holes to get used to how slow the greens were.

Overall, though, being able to play nine with a pushcart in mid-November with temps near 70 and blue skies was a win.

83 today at Lee's Hill. Once again, short game struggles on very fast greens kept me over 80. 1 birdie, 1 double, too many bogeys.

Dint plan on playing but figured Iā€™d see if it was busy. Course was empty. I thought I only had time for a few holes so I took a cart. Nobody in front of me. Flew around 9 holes in under an hour. Shot 31. After having my driver head break I got to #9 , 400 yard par 4. I had to lay up short of the brook with a 5 iron. From there I hit a nice 7 iron to 8 feet and made the putt for birdie. Nice way to end the year.

Shot 47/47 today in the league. My first iron shot of the day felt so nice and I almost made birdie. After that I really struggled with irons. Only 3 gir. Too many double bogeys and not enough pars to offset them. Three strokes out of the money in my flight.

Walterjn 6 over par is solid. I was thinking of taking a 7 iron and wedge and play with the pro shop guys but thatā€™s out the windowšŸ™„. Sounds like youā€™re minimizing your bad holes.

Typhoon I took a break from playing so I could get the tack trunk done. I played once last week, and so far 3x this week. Hopefully I can get back to playing more as I'm almost done with the trunk. I just need to get one or 2 more things to finish it off so I can take it south on Tuesday. Then I can see about working on Christmas ornaments.

sdandrea1 that it is. The longest hole is 250 yards, with a narrow window for your tee shot from the back tees, and about 200 yards from the forward tees. The greens are All sloped, yet play about a 10, for the size of the crew, and cost to play, and roll pretty true. The entire course from the blue tees, is about 1600 yards. The greens, while being sloped, are all damn near postage stamps, the largest single green, is #6.

sdandrea1 definitely good short game practice. Good place to work on my irons. Great place to work on green reading for lines.
Fantastic place to learn the game at, or hang out on the patio enjoying some tacos, and conversation with any number of the characters that show up.

2 of the kids from work and another senior played a match. 2 man best ball, $10 a side.
Was tied until 6 then we won 7 and 8 to close out the front. Rain started on 9 so match was shortened. Shot a 39 in cold, windy and wet conditions. Short game saved me, got up and down for par 5x

Shot 42/45 yesterday. The cold wind really got me on the back nine. Hit the ball pretty well considering I didn't touch a club for 2 weeks. Horrible short game though. First time in a long time I can remember the wind gusts were strong enough to move the ball on the greens during our last few holes.

45/39 today. Got the blades dialed in by the back 9. Nice short game scoring clubs. Yummy sound and feel!!
