How did you shoot today at Golf

Played the original course at The Villages, Orange Blossom. Shot 93 with 40! putts! This is ridiculous. I have absolutely no control of speed, and can't hit my line. Indifferent chipping isn't helping. Actually hit the ball reasonably well. but only hit 3 GIRs. Just embarrassing.
Remarkably my hdcp has remained at 10.7 but 7 of the next 9 rounds are counted in my best so it is going to explode upward pretty soon.
garyt1957 Man went the doctor with severe headaches. Doctor could find no reason but told him sometimes men's nuts caused such things. Only way to alleviate the headaches would be removal of them. The man was in agony and said to do it. A couple weeks later, free from headaches, he felt like he needed a lift in spirits. So he went shopping for new clothes. Picked out a nice suit, shirt, etc.. The salesman reminded him to get new underwear and asked what size. 32 the man said. Well, I think you need 36 at least said the salesman. The man told him he had worn 32 for several years. The salesman said that may well be, but wearing underwear too small will squeeze your nuts and give you severe headaches.
IOW, are you sure you want to keep visiting us doctors here for putting advice?
garyt1957 In all seriousness if your speed is horrible, which it sounds like it is, then you may want to adjust your focus before you stroke the putt. On chips, pitches and putts I tend to get too focused on the hole. I constantly pitch it right at the hole, but really I wanted to land it short of the hole; now I'm 10 ft past
I was never as bad with putts, but I wasn't good. Can't remember where I read the tip (Stockton or Pelz), but the more uphill a putt was the more I would focus past the hole and the more downhill the more I would focus short of the hole. I just found that even though I knew where I wanted to hit the ball I was constantly refocusing on the hole and that could throw me off. More so on a pitch than a putt, but off is off. Just my $.02 and sorry if you've heard it all before.
Shot a 41 on the front 9 at this place during simulator league last night. Managed a birdie out of the gate on #1 but the well went dry after that

I played the Old Course on a simulator today. First time I have ever played simulator golf. The Old Course destroyed me! Shot 95!
It took me forever to get used to hitting off the mats. I never hit off mats. It was also screwy in that shots out of the rough were the Same as shots from the fairway; same goes for the sand. Took me forever to figure that out, so I had shots that went way too long and others that were way too short.
For some reason it was giving me pathetic distances on my irons, so I had to club up quite a bit. Thereafter, all of a sudden i'm flying greens. Couldn't figure it.
I set it to auto putt, and it putts a lot worse than I do. It gave me zero one-putts, even though I got it to twelve feet on one hole. It also assigned me a three-putt on anything outside of 35 feet, but I generally 2-putt from those distances.
My longest drive was 221, which isn't bad for me. The tee has the ball set a lot lower than I prefer; if I could have teed it up higher I think I would have had better results. I hit 60% of the fairways but did have one tee ball out of bounds right (there goes two more shots right there).
After I finished I hit a few 7-irons on the range. I was happy that my path was straight to approximately 1 degree in-to-out on every shot.

Played 18 today in 1 hour 45 minutes. Single in a cart, unimpeded. Shot 77 with a hot putter. Not many GIRs. Best round in quite a while. Cloudy, 38 degrees, no wind.
rsvman2 I think the Sims vary a bit too. I've played on a few different ones now and they all seem pretty accurate on full shots, but some widely vary with bunker shots, shots from rough and pitches/chips from rough. Some places provide a lot of different height plastic cones for tees while others don't give you much choice.
We played one last weekend and selected the Copperhead at Innisbrook. We couldn't figure out what it really wanted us to do from bunkers or rough either. In the end we think it wanted a 10 yard bunker shot to be like a 15 yard pitch whereas the last Sim we played wanted like a 30 yard shot for the same 10 yard bunker shot.
The ones around here are a bit pricey IMO. They all remind me of TopGolf a bit where it's fun and you can have drinks, but it costs too much to do regularly.
Played Tierra Del Sol at the Villages today. Beautiful well maintained course. The putting green was as fast as anything I've ever experienced, I think. I hit some 20 footers that I literally took like a 3" backswing and just touched them and they got there. Luckily the course greens while still really fast weren't quite that fast.
I had an exceptional day on the greens with 30 putts and I had a ton of 30 footers that are usually sure 3 putts. Just missed holing a 50 footer by about 2". I was 2 over after 7 holes and then just lost it for 5 holes. Pushing drives right, weak second shots, then got it back and finished strong. Ended up 42-45-87 but that bad 5 hole stretch killed me. Fantastic day, played with a great couple from Quebec.
Was sitting around doing nothing waiting on the rain. Decided to go to the practice green 3 minutes from the house. When I got there the executive course was empty so I played instead. Started out pretty blah with a par and two bogeys then played the next 9 holes in one under! Two birdies and a bogey, the rest pars.
I feel like if I lived here full time I could really improve my game. With a practice green a 3 minute golf cart ride from home and the ability to jump on an executive course late in the day for free would be pretty cool. At home, I'm not driving 30 minutes to get to a practice facility.
I putted quite well again today and my chipping/ pitching is improving. Highlight was a birdie on a par 4 where I hit a wedge from 105 to 3".
