Got out for 18 today at Lee's Hill. 41/38. First round in 3 weeks I think! 100 degrees out and I joined the only other player on the course I think. Got around in 3 hours. 7 bogies, 11 pars. Felt good to play golf and not do moving shit. šŸ˜€šŸ˜

Today I lost 3 balls and walked away from the course, 48/ 50- 98.
My buddy skipped his ball about 4 times on the little pond we had to hit over on hole 12. The 1st time his ball touched water was just over half way. Then it skipped a few more times and made it to dry land.

Shot 43-41 today at Power Ranch Golf Club. Only had 2 GIRS but wasn't missing by much. My wedge game was solid leading to only 27 putts on the day. I kept having in between club distances on my approach shots and couldn't adjust. I had a run of 6 straight pars from hole 9 through 14. The wheels came off a little and I played the final 4 holes at +5. I felt I played better than my score showed.

I also got to yell at the millennials we got paired with. They were jabbering a bit when we were swinging on the tee to start. That's not what set me off. It was the 4 times that they hit the gas pedal on their cart right in the middle of either mine or my partners downswing. The brake pedal releasing makes a lot of noise. They were much better and more aware after I lit into them.

Played our back 9 for a change today, ho hum -3. Did miss a green though but it was from a fairway bunker. Smoked some tee shots. Got my iron striking and ball flight back the las couple weeks. I'm thinking of resting the Nike Vapor pro's for a while and using the Ping i500 irons that are the back up/Rockstar set. really liked them at Top Golf, might as well take them out to play.

Shot 43/39 for 82 in cool, soggy conditions. Struggled a bit with R flex shaft in driver. Flex felt ok but balance felt off. Also struggled chipping and putting with slow greens. Some beautiful iron shots though.

Shot 42/46 today in overcast conditions but in the 70's all day. Great weather for August in St. Louis. Putting was pretty good, 30 putts including a 4 putt. My driver was a struggle, but a new one is supposed to arrive on Saturday. Irons were decent and my play around the greens was better than normal.

38/38 with 12 fw, 27 putts. And surprisingly, a few GIRs.
Still trying to hit irons, which I failed at today. But, have not played for 3 weeks(my excuse).
Had some trouble with the Smoke driver and after a few holes it occurred to me that I had changed the adapter to +1. I changed it to -1 which is 1 lower than I had been using in prior rounds. Proceeded to hit 2 of my longest drives ever, on those 2 holes.
    'The driver is set'!šŸ˜„

Great day out, 78*, kinda windy as usual. Quick round, not very busy as most play early. I love the mid afternoons.

I was able to walk on to the New Course at St Andrews yesterday. I got paired with three other singles. One local guy, one Canadian, one American.

I rented clubs, all Ai Smoke plus an Odyssey putter. I hit the driver well. I tried the 3 wood once and only once. Used the 3 hybrid a lot because of long par 3s and 4s.

I shot 87 with two 7s and a birdie. 29 putts. I was good on the greens. Maybe I should buy the putter. šŸ¤“

The round was almost five hours and I got the full Scottish links golf experience. Sun, rain, 30 mph winds. Lost a ball in gorse. Hit into 3 pot bunkers, got out of all of them.

Iā€™m not going to lie, it was tough playing rental clubs, with skinny little regular grips. I got more used to it as it went along.

DonM AWESOME, DonM...!!! Great pix too...!!! IIRC, the "New" course was built in the 1890's....?

        DonM Nice!

I play jumbo grips, so it would be a huge adjustment for me, too.

          fatshot
          You are right!

They say the New is harder than the Old. I think I could break 80 on it with my own clubs.

          Clubs.

Oh, and in the best cheap Golf Buzzard way, I bought my golf ball supply used from kids on the street. šŸ˜

First 18-hole round of the year here: https://www.eaglewoodresort.com/golf.htm

Played the silver tees, about 5400 yards. Shot 90 which I was pleased with, particularly with a 5-6-8 start (all par 4s). Had 7 pars, including 4 in a row on Holes 5-8.

Bunkers were fairly penal and on one hole a fried egg leave took me 3 shots to get out (the 8 above). Greens were tricky and undulating and the scorecard shows I had 40 putts!

Had just put together a Wishon Micro-Groove HM SW that worked beautifully 4 times today and set up my best birdie chance, which I left short. Partial credit to GolfBuzz and @SVonhof for the deal a few years ago.

The driver, the Honma XP-1 that I picked up based on Uncle Steve's recommendation, was excellent all day. Hooked two drives starting the back 9 but righted the ship after that. The shaft is the most excellent @LogicalOne Leveler untipped at 45". For my slow SS I am consistently getting a slight draw out to 210 yards after roll, even on shots towards the toe, and the occasional 220-230 yard shot. Not one slice today. I don't think that has ever happened for me on an 18-hole round before.

Wow, that was a while ago!

I bought some @LogicalOne wedges, but have not shafted them up yet. I got them to replace the ones I have when they wear out, but they are just starting to rust now, which is cool, so I don't know how long until those see any play.

He sent me some poker chip ball markers and I have left a few of them in random places on the courses for people to find, thinking maybe they would look up the brand.
