How did you shoot today at Golf
- Edited
44 + 43 = 87 (5th tournament of the year)
Again benched my driver after two holes for the 3 wood off the tee.
Fairway woods also benched for hybrids which were great. (#4 and #5 hybrids and no 6 iron)
Short game again A ++++ with 7 one putt greens.
Tee shots, including par 3's, cost me.
Finished 16th out of 104 (net scores)
Last tournament 14th out of 106. (net scores)
Quite surprised after not playing for past 3 weeks. Thank goodness for my indoor range but only by playing can I improve my tee shots.
I got out for 9 after work today. Went one over, with two bogeys and one birdie. Was lucky to salvage a bogey on 17, but should have had back-to-back birdies on 15 and 16 (stuck a 6-iron to about ten feet on 16 but left the putt an inch on the high side).
Still occasionally hitting bombs with my new driver. On the 11th hole, which is a 174-yard par three with a forced carry over a lake, I got a 5-iron to within about 15 feet. I know that isn't any great shakes for many of you, but I have been using four iron as my 175 club for several years.
Had a good time.

What? That's driver for half of us here.
I shot 42-37-79 at Fostoria CC in Fostoria, Ohio this morning. It's one of those "hidden gems," formerly a small town private club that has now gone public.....always in great shape! Today was the first time I've played in two weeks due to my back, and I was pleasantly surprised that it held up well following physical therapy! One birdie, 1 double bogey, 8 GIR, and 31 putts.

That looks like my yard in my BRAND NEW house.
Talked with my yard expert guy today from my old VA 'hood. He says just turn the irrigation off. We'll wait until mid September, aerate it, SEED it (SUPER SEED IT) and cover it with a 1/2" of compost. Water the hell out of it.
I didn't stand a chance getting new sod laid down weeks before the hottest, dryest stretch we've ever had here. Toast.......

Couples league…par 3 scramble format last night…25 gross 19.8 Net…squeaked out 1st place in the front 9 flight by 0.3 stroke(s) to win the $70 purse.
My bride has a sore back this morning from having to carry my sorry azz all night…I was pulling/hooking every damn club that I used except my putter…warm up on the range was just fine…but on the course it was just one of “those days”
I have Playing lesson today for 2 women. Just our front 9. I ended up -6. Changing back to my lighter Ping Redwood Anser that I’ve used the past couple years was the difference. 2 putt birdie on the first hole, 8 foot eagle on 4 and then birdied 7,8 and 9. Irons worked well so what I was working on at the range was correct.
The 2 women said it was the best they have ever played as well so that was a big win.
sdandrea1 Yeah, some of those Geezer band outfits prove that sir I can send the COSTCO drive to ops check?

I wear camouflage bucket hats and plaid shorts, but not when playing golf with SWMBO. Then she dresses me.
You can send me anything you want tested. I'm yours!!!!
Played the local muni yesterday. 2nd day with the new Black Ops driver, but this time I tried the new XCaliber Mystic 4S shaft. First 6 holes, did OK with it, hit all the fairways but nothing special. Then on 7, flushed it. And continued to flush it. Heading into #18, had hit 13/13 fairways. And it was dilemma time. #18 green runs diagonally, front left to back right, so driver left gives the best look. But there is a bunker left at 230 off the tee. Get over the bunker, you get a perfect look at the pin. In the fairway, you have to clear a big bunker to the back right pin.
My usual play is to aim at the bunker and swing hard. Or do you play fairway to get 14/14 on the day?
I flushed it right over the bunker into the left rough. Easy 6 iron to the middle of the green.
Irons were decent (11 GIR), but putter really didn't do much. Kelly had better get those XECUTE 1.0s ready to go soon.
80 at Tarpon Springs. Hot and humid round. Went around in 2:57.
Got out for 18 today at Lee's Hill. 41/38. First round in 3 weeks I think! 100 degrees out and I joined the only other player on the course I think. Got around in 3 hours. 7 bogies, 11 pars. Felt good to play golf and not do moving shit.
